Departed the very nice town of Toledo yesterday and drove to El Escorial in order to view the massive construction project of Phillip II. This is the boy who didn't finish his father's project in Granada. Rather he exhausted the Spanish treasury for not a terribly cute conglomeration of a palace, church and monastery. Oh, such are kids. To our surprise they do not allow pictures inside. It took several snaps before we caught on, so you will be able to see a bit of the interior but not much.

We then continued our travels to Segovia, which is a very pretty town NNW of Madrid that was founded by....The Romans, and we have a picture of a very well preserved Roman Aqueduct to prove it.
