A short hop from Segovia to Madrid with a brief stop at a ski slope. ( Bought my Beech lift pass a couple of days ago. What about the Helms and other Fussells?) Madrid is a large city but really not much here, except as Bird exclaims a gazillion museums. We went to another palace, and of course, those damn Spaniards continue to disallow photos. No one else does this. Why do they? So we only have a couple of a marvelous palace that is the third largest in the world following Versailles and Vienna.

Spain summary: One of us read that should someone only visit one European country make it Spain, well no, make it Italy. Spain, while interesting, does not really compare with most of Europe. We could easily have forgone Barcelona, in particular, but also Cordova. Really loved Tarifa, and of course, Bird's camel ride across the straight.

We fly tomorrow back to Istanbul, spend the night near the airport, and back to Atlanta the following day, so this will be our last post. Adios.
