Motorhome New from Europe 13. Spain January 2005 A touch of frost - and we’re chasing great bustards again. After a few weeks at home for Christmas, it was good to be getting on the plane again to pick up Smiley once more at Almeria on Spains’ arid south coast. Ron and Todd were delighted to see us of course and especially pleased to be let out of the cupboard. We’ve been back around ten days now, and we are looking forward to a holiday in Mallorca later in the month. We’ll leave the motorhome in Valencia, pack a bag and catch the ferry. 4 days of relaxing and lounging in the Balearic Islands have come to an end. This morning was an early wake up as we had to catch our morning ferry to take us back to the mainland. Once we all boarded the ferry, everybody pretty much crashed for the duration of the trip. Back at the port at Denia, we reboarded our Contiki coach which seemed like it had been forever since we were last on it. We continued down the coast to the city of Valencia which is Spain's third largest city. Valencia was the only one night stop during the entire tour and nobody really knew what to expect. Ah Spain! I had to review my Spanish before coming here. Anyway, i had 12 units of Spanish in college so i know it won't be difficult communicating with my ancestors - my grandmother is pure Spanish. We went around Valencia after our daily attendance to our seminars. It was indeed a charming and lively city. We spent the night at the Plaza eating Tapas. Don’t miss the Paella, it was great but we had to wait for 1 hour for our Paella to be cooked at the hotel restaurant. Anyway, for me it was worth it. ... read more
