Street
This is the median of the street when I was walking to Atocha Train Staition! So pretty! Today I woke up to the sound of Ray’s voice! It was so nice. He called right after my alarm went off. We talked for like 10 min. so that like $20…whoops, but it was worth it. I miss him so much…but good new…it’s a possibility that he may come to Spain for a few days! That would be so cool, but I know it’s really expensive, and he’d have to take off work…so if it doesn’t happen - I guess I’ll be home soon enough…but it’d be so cool! I have so many things I’d want to show him! Anyway, after I talked to him, I left for school. Class was boring…again, but I signed up to go on a trip to this monastery with the school, so that should be fun. I had a meeting with Antonio, but this time, I guess he didn’t trust my Spanish skills - even though this time I understood everything he said! But he told me my interview is tomorrow at 4 and that he’ll personally take me there - he’s so sweet. After class, I got on the computer to work on my vet application. I actually worked on it for like
Atocha Train Station
Here´s a pic of the outside of the train station 4 hours! But I got an entire section done, so that was really productive…after that, I walked to the train station again…so far to walk, but cheaper and prettier and healthier…and the line wasn’t as long today…so now I officially have my ticket for Barcelona!! Woohoo. I hope Ray decides soon whether he’s coming or not so I know if I can book a trip that weekend or not, because originally, the weekend he said he’d come is the weekend I planned to go to Salamanca and Lisbon, Portugal…but Ray would be so much better! Oh, and while I was at school, Angel gave me 10 Euros because the trip was cancelled and since I wanted to go, and I already “prepaid” he said he owed me that money…but he wouldn’t give me money for the trip this weekend that was called off…which was 30 Euro!!! Ugh. Because I didn’t sign up, because I knew I’d be in Barcelona…if I had known it was going to be called off, I would’ve signed and gotten 30 more Euro! But then again, if I had signed up, there would have been enough people to go, so oh well.
After the train station,
The inside of the Train Station
Look at all the red-earred sliders! Ha. I couldn´t believe this was the inside of a building! I walked to a Starbucks and sat outside drinking my frappacino. It was a nice taste of home. While I was there I did my homework for school and did some more planning - I don’t know what I’d do w/o my planner! (oh, FYI, here in Spain, they write ‘with’ shorthand like we do except of course with their word for ‘with’ which is ‘con’; they write ‘c/’ like we write ‘w/’ just that that was interesting! Oh and, how we write 1st or 2nd, they write 1º or 2º because the words are “primero” and “Segundo”, interesting right?!) Anyway, I called Jasmine and she wanted to meet at J&J’s for this intercambio night where people go to talk to people from different places and practice talking in other languages. So I walked to the closest metro…which wasn’t so close…and went J&Js. Virginia was there too. They had some wine and I tried a taquilla sunrise…it was gross…and freaking expensive! Ugh. I definitely won’t be wasting money like that again! So we met these 2 girls, one from Spain and the other from Peru. Jasmine, Virginia, and I talked in Spanish…er attempted to talk in Spanish, and Velda and
Another angle
Still the inside of the train station Dolores sometime attempted to talk in English. It was nice. We learned some bad words in Spanish…but I don’t remember any of them now…and Dolores told us the words she new in English…which was quite comical! Ha. Anyway, we talked for about an hour I guess…I’m not sure, then we all left and walked down the street a little ways - to the next metro stop, San Bernardo. Jasmine and I recognized the area from when we got last the first night I was here!...I can’t emphasize enough how FAR we walked!!! So we hopped on the metro and headed home. When I got here, I heated up some of my spaghetti and had some melon with cinnamon. I called DHL to find out what I should do about my debit card that Ray sent. I never got a straight answer, but I got a phone number and an address of where it’s at right now, so I’ll call them in the morning. I hope I get my debit card before I leave for Barcelona!!!! Well, it’s dreamin’ time! (oh yeah, and in class today we learned different phrases…one of them was “estar friki” HA, it means exactly what you
at J&J´s
This was our intercambio night at J&Js. The one closest to the camera is Dolores and the girl in the green chair is Velda. think it means! I just thought it was funny. Oh, and here “coger” means ‘to catch’ like ‘to catch a cab’ but in South America it means ‘to have sex’ pretty different huh?! So in South American…don’t say ‘yo cojo un cab’ that would sound very bad! Ha)
