¡Hola from Barcelona!
No I havnt dropped off the face of the earth! I´m still very much alive.... just very much busy too!!
Paris was wonderful. On Sunday we got up and were at the Eiffle Tower by 9am. We went right up to the very top observation deck. Wow. Incredible!!! We didn´t even have very much of a line to wait in either! Then we went back down and got some chocolate crepes at a stand just in the park by the tower. We set up the tripod and got some great action shots of us in front of the tower. We probably spent way too long at the tower but thats ok cause it was fun. From the tower we walked to the palace where hitler dance when we took over Paris. Sorry cant remember the name of it atm. So of course we did a little jig and were on our way to the Arc du Triomphe. Again so beautiful! And what a crazy traffic circle. There are 12 avenues that open on to it and no lines on the road whatsoever! Apparently there is an accident ever 6 mins, but we didnt see one. From
Oh la la
J'adore chocolate crepes.... and finger mustaches! there we strolled down Champs-Élysées and made our way to Pont du Alexander III. (its the ´romance bridge´from sex and the city if you were wondering). From there we thought we would go check out Mona but unfortunately we read the map wrong and walked the wrong way down the street. Somehow we ended up back at the Eiffle tower. Crap. So we walked back as far as Hôtel des Invalides and had a nap on the grass. We then got picked up at Musee D'Orsay and headed back to the cabins to get ready for our big night out. Wow what a night! Can you say all you can drink wine with dinner (which was 5 courses btw yummm) AND THEN all you can drink champagne at the Cabaret show???? My gosh what a fun night!!! We headed back to the cabins after the show (which was awesome!) and partied at the bar at the campsite. My roomate Bec and I had a bit of a big one and almost slept in the next morning. We had 15 mins to race around and pack everything up. Oopsie!!! From now on we pack before we drink the night before we
Little Rascals
Me Ash Shaun and Eiffle are leaving a place... well we try to haha.
Monday we headed into the heart of the Beaujolais wine region to stay at Chateau de Cruix (or Chateau Debauchery as it affectionately came to be called). Its this beautiful old chateau in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nothing but vineyards! So peaceful!!! We arrived in the afternoon and had a wine tasting that eveing. Great stuff! (I got a couple bottles of red for you mom... hopefully they make it home haha). From there we had a super 3 course dinner and thats when the Debauchery began!!! We had a ¨rubiks cube¨ party!!!! You had to be wearing at least 6 different colours at the start and somehow end up with 1 in the end. Most of us didnt switch clothes tho cause there was another contiki group there and we were scared we wouldnt see our clothes again! Still didnt stop us from drinking our fair share of Eau du vie (¨water of life¨ - potent stuff (80% i think) made from all the leftover leaves and seeds and such after making wine). Crazy night. It ended with about 5 of us dragging our sleeping bags out
Night Out in Paris
Krystal, Shaun, Mindy, Ash, Moi and Bec and sleeping in the vineyard. I woke up with mushed grapes in my hair and all over my sleeping bag!!! HAHA Needless to say Becs and i went back to bed for a bit... but at least we were allowed to!! We spent the entire day laying around by the pool, working on our tans and increasing our consumption of champagne! Had a bit of a quiet night that night as we had a 12 hour drive to BARCELONA the next day!!!
I must say Spain is BY FAR my favorite country so far!!! The people are incredibly friendly, the food is the BESSSSSST we´ve had yet and everything is sooooo cheap (you can get a 2 L bottle of Sangria for €2.50!!! and a bottle of champagne is only €1.70!!! ) Got in a bit late last nite so we just stuck around the campsite. Lukily we are RIGHT on the beach here so we bought mats at the store along with plenty of cheap alcohol and set up a huge party right on the beach!!! SOOO much fun!! 😊 Today we actually got to see Barcelona which is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Its soo incredible!! We started out at
A Grape Vine Named Wicksy
At the wine tasting. Our bus driver is pretending to be a grape vine. one end of Las Ramblas (their main street) and took the day to just meander from there. Checked out the cathedrals, bought all kinds of fresh fruit from the food markets (even got to try dragonfruit yumm!), ate traditional Paella and Sangria for lunch and of course did plenty of shopping (like i said, so cheap here!!!) Then this evening we checked out some tapas and flamenco dancing and even got to try it for ourselves! fun! From there we went to Port Olympico and ate at a restaurant right on the harbour. Not sure exactly what I ordered as the only words I was able to make out on the menu was spinach and cheese and cylinder. ya cylinder was in there somewhere hahaha. Turned out to be a pasta dish with a big heap of spinach on top mixed with pine nuts and raisins and topped with baked cheese. Different but VERY good. Tonight we are just chilling out at the cabins. I think we might end up getting into some cards and sangria on the beach again. Who knows!!
Oh annnd I thought I lost my memory card this morning
... after the two of us Chateau De Cruix
