Barcelona


Now I know why everyone raves about Barcelona... It's clean, fun and has interesting architecture. It's located in Catalonia, next to France on the Mediterranean Sea. The weather was cold, windy and rainy while I was there, but there was so much to look at!

Gaudi had great influence in Barcelona.

Antoni Gaudi began constructing the "Holy Family" Catholic Church back in 1882, up until his death in 1926. His followers have continued construction, which is estimated to be completed around 2026. It's entirely privately funded.

This newer facade focuses on the Passion of Christ.

The word "gaudy," meaning excessive ornamentation in English, came from reference to this architect.

I met Ramon back when I was travelling in New Zealand. We were able to connect again in Barcelona, and he took me sightseeing around Catalonia!
