A couple more weeks gone by and we're still bodging away. Our tarp is now waterproof but stinks of turps and gives everybody a headache. Weather's pretty much lovely, cept when it rains. We must be looking thin cos the local fishermen keep giving us fish, and champagne, and crabs (which after eating a few we decided it'd be better to just liberate them all into the water and let them repopulate the area) Par de semanas más han pasado y aun estamos aqui chapuziando.

Sunday, September 19th in Picos de Europa. After staying just outside of Potes, Cantabria at the beautiful Hotel de Orso for the weekend my host family wanted to Becca and I to experience the Fuente De cable car that gives you a beautiful 360 degree view of the National Park;seeing as Saturday turned out to be a semi-cloudy day while we were hiking a bit in Picos de Europa National park my host family decided it would be pointless to take the cable car up the mountain due to the low hanging clouds. So we decided to try it again for Sunday, hoping weather would permit a great ride up. We were right to wait for Sunday as it permitted the perfect weather. Only a few of us went up in the cable car. Overall, only ... read more

Oviedo Sean has been our best friend on this trip. He has guided us through cities and towns and down massive highways with multiple lanes and signposts and we have always gotten exactly where we wanted. We had come to trust Sean implicitly and thought of him as a member of the family, well as much as a GPS can be a family member anyway. Sean let us down. Apparently Sean does not know that a 1.6m wide car really shouldn’t try to go down a 1.61m wide road nor should a 2m long car be asked to sharp dogleg to the right on a 1.61m wide road. Apparently Sean also didn’t know about the new hotel being built and that the 1.61m road he had us on came to dead end and at a 70 ... read more

Well thats that. The team's all together: a rucksack each, a big pile of musical instuments and tools and the big debate is which coffee maker to keep. Now we stay here a couple of weeks, sort the boat out a bit (make it comfy) cos its attached to a floating concrete thing which makes it easy to work. Then we'll decide where we're headed. The people in Sant Juan are a friendly lot. They've got a funky looking church and you get well fed for free as long as you keep drinking cider.

Hi! My trip so far has been incredible. Europe just has a whole different vibe that I´ve never experienced before. And Spain even more so. So, this is what I´ve been up to so far- I arrived In Madrid i nthe morning and then went directly to Whitney´s apartment. There I met her two roomates (one of which, Cameron, is on the Camino with me), a friend of her´s and Whitney´s from Dallas who is also on the CAmino (Haley), and this really sweet Brit who was just travellng through and needed a place to crash. That day we had a picnic in a park, watched the Holland v. Uruguay game at a bar, and then drank at Cameron´s boyfriend´s place. Everyone I met was super friendly, and it´s been really interesting sharing stories with Tom ... read more

Hola a todos! Again, it has been far too long since I last updated my blog. I started this entry about 2 weeks ago but sadly haven't managed to return to it and finish it until now. I spent a marvelous weekend in Asturias at the end of February. The regions on the northern coast of Spain (including Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country) receive much more rain than other parts of Spain and so in general they have greener landscapes. Within Spain, Asturias is known for its extremely friendly people, its beautiful coastline and interior landscapes and its cider, among other things. When I was in Madrid in January, I met an English assistant in my program living in Gijón, Asturias named Ida. She is from Nova Scotia, Canada and was visiting her friend ... read more

Geo: 43.3603, -5.84476I really like the pension I've been staying at, Pension Roma - very comfortable and feels homey, kind of like your grandma's house, and the location can't be beat, only steps from all the action in the old town. I said goodbye and was off to the bus station - the first bus to Oviedo was sold out. I should have bought my ticket yesterday, as the later bus ended up being quite a bit more expensive. I finished off the last of the 3-pack of Canary Juice I bought the other day, and wandered over to a cafe for breakfast. With time to kill after, I wandered around but almost everything was closed, being a Sunday. I picked up some lunch for the ride to Oviedo before walking back to the station. I'm a ... read more

San Juan de l'Arena, Oviedo, Gijon, Aviles, Pravia. A one month trip! Are not so many places to visit but the beauty of this region are not the monuments, which are nice, but the people and the food, soooo much food like the "patatas al cabrales". Summer is the best season to visit this region. Each weekend there's a party in one city, different for the weekend before. You take the car go to those little cities and let's the party started!... read more
