making dinner Well.. It was a pretty boring weekend. Friday we got up early and went to the bus station to catch a bus to Cordoba. It was me, Rachel, Cecilia, Christine and Evan because we all had to turn in our paper work to get our residence forms. We finally found the building we were looking for and went to the office of a woman named Ana. She is basically doing us a really big favor and going to the police station for us and getting our stuff taken care of. Otherwise we would all have to stand in line for hours waiting for the police and what not. So we just gave her all of our forms and then headed back outside. We walked to a park and ate lunch that we had brought with us. Then we had some time to kill before our session at the arab baths. We ended up going to the Mezquita, which was Cordoba’s old cathedral. It looked really cool inside, it reminded me of some of Dr. Seuss’s drawings in Oh, The Places You’ll Go. After that we walked to the Arab Baths. We changed in the locker room and then headed into the

dinner party pool room. It was very dark and relaxing music was playing and there were candles everywhere. When we first walked in there were 2 pools of cold water running into them. And they were freezing! We passed the main room and went into another smaller room where there were 2 baths of scalding hot water. We sat in there for a little bit and then went into a huge sauna. After that we went back into the main room where there was one huge pool of medium temperature. All the pools have seats built into the wall so you can sit. The ceiling had big stars that were cut out to let in natural light and fresh air. We sat here for some time and relaxed, I might have even fallen asleep for a minute or so. In the main room there were 5 massage tables. They called peoples numbers and we all got a 15 minute massage. They used scented oils. It was very relaxing. However there were a few rude Spanish men who would not respect the “silence” rule. But overall it was a neat experience.
After our session we went back outside. All of this was in

jewish quarter in Cordoba the beautiful Jewish quarter of the city. We were starving by this time cuz it was about 6:00 or so… but everything was closed! We were extremely frustrated. Eventually we found one restaurant that was open and we had some tapas. We got some gelato afterwards as well. Then we decided we would go back to Priego instead of staying for the weekend. We didn’t care too much for Cordoba. So we took a 9:00pm bus back, it took us about 2 hours. We got home and all went straight to bed!
Saturday morning we went to the library for a bit and then we came home and had lunch. We heard about a beer festival taking place so we went to check it out. It appeared to have been pretty happening at one time, but when we got there around 5:30 it was starting to clear out. But we still got some good beer, I couldn’t tell you what it was-- they had a lot of interesting imports. Of course the american one was Budweiser haha. We sat in the plaza for a bit and talked then we walked back to our apartment. We made chicken tacos for dinner
and then got ready to go out for our first time in Priego. We went to a bar that we had seen one night that looked pretty popular. But maybe since it was a holiday weekend, it wasn’t very busy. We walked down the street to another bar that seemed to have more people at it. The bartenders were very friendly and the owner even brought a round of drinks over to our table. We ended up meeting some people, a very drunk birthday man and some of his friends. It ended up being a fun night. We only stayed for a few drinks and then headed back home for bed!
Sunday was extremely lazy! We all slept in and made lunch around 2. We took a walk and just read our books for a majority of the day. I can’t get over everything being closed on Sundays. Besides walking and exploring, there isn’t much else to do. Sunday night we discovered some show on TV that is like a Spanish version of The Amazing Race. So we got really into that! We made dinner and watched the show. Then we all went to bed.
Today is Monday… it’s a

the mazquita holiday here so no school. We read our books for a while and then made lunch. And then we took a 2 hour walk/hike around the city. We pretty much covered the entire parameter of the city in those 2 hours. We found the old bull fighting ring which is pretty decrepit and deserted. Being the curious girl I am, I walked around the edge till I found a part I could climb and I got up so I could see the inside of it. It looked really cool, old and falling apart, but cool none the less. We continued our trek through the city and finally found our way home again. Now we are all just reading again and we will make dinner in a while. I’m not sure how much more of these boring weekends I can handle!
