I'm writing this a bit late since I've had a week without internet. But I feel that Malaga needs to get an entire essay because so many things happened there. I was only in Malaga for two days. I didn't really go to the beach and saw little more than the Picasso museum, the center, the hostel and offcourse Freaggie Rocks. But the hostel was amazing. It seemed as I entered not to live up to the standard of Granada, but as I look back I have noticed that I hardly left the hostel. Partly because it was to hot and partly because two Dutch guys spent the entire time playing guitar and entertaining the crowd of bagpackers. It was some great days in Malaga, with company of some very interesting travellers. I believe that Malaga ... read more

(Unfortunate event #1) The train from Valencia to Malaga was fully booked. So in the early morning, we bused our way to the main bus depot and took a 9-10hr bus instead. Our entertainment during this long ride was two girls that sat infront of us. We dubbed them 'porn stars' with their raspy voices, well done hair, breast implants and their interesting choice of travelling shoes - 4 inch stillettos. We arrived in Malaga, got on the city bus and the bus driver directed us to 'walk through the tunnel' to get to our hostel. Great, it was almost midnight and we have our packs on us and now we had to walk through some dark car tunnel. (#2) Our hostel lost our second nights reservation and in the meantime, shifted us into the 'overflow' ... read more

This time in Spain has been tremendous, scary, lonely, and frustrating. I have loved all of it, even the worst parts, a real growing experience. The best parts have been the new friends I have met here in Spain. I´m part of a community of couchsurfers all connected through couchsufing.com. I have spent time in Rota, on the Bay of Cadith with Navy guys based there, thanks Kevin and Jamie. I have recently spent a few days with an expat U.K. couple, near Nerja, who are living out there retirement in Spain, Brian and Jane. The people that I have met have provided me with a wealth of information that I would have never asked to begin with. These are the locals who are able to guide your trip to make it more economical in both ... read more

In January we had our work conference in Malaga, Spain. It’s the first work conference I’ve ever been to so I was pretty excited and impressed that we where all heading over to Spain. The conference it’s self wasn’t that exciting…just the usual speeches and patting ourselves on the back. But the awards evening and extra day spent mostly in Port Abanuse (can’t spell) was great fun. Here the pics. ... read more

Another early flight out of Gatwick and we were on our way to Malaga airport for our transfers to Torremolinos, one of the most popular tourist destinations of the Costa del Sol. I was looking forward to the possibility of getting some skin on my newly transparent skin. I tell ya, I can’t wait to get back home to Aus to get a bit of color on my bod!! We stayed at a hotel not far from the beach, and after dropping off our gear, we all ventured out to get a drink and check out the Spanish coastline. The sand was nice, considering many European beaches are pebbly and dark, and the water of the Mediterranean was beautifully clean and blue. Walking along the 'golden mile' of beach it is easy to understand why so ... read more

After the two hour drive from Córdoba, we were excited to see the blue waters of the Mediterranean in Málaga. We walked hotel to hotel, finding the city to be completely full of Semana Santa vacationers. Finally, we found a home at Hostal Capri. At least we wouldn´t be sleeping on the beach tonight! We walked the two blocks to the seaside and as it started to rain, we found a charming tapas bar with a great view of the sea. Here, a tinto de verano only costs €1.40, and you get a tapa gratis with every drink. With my first drink I ordered a portion of my favorite, tortilla española... and they brought me...a piece of sausage wrapped in bacon. It was delicious, but it wasn´t tortilla. With my second drink I ordered tortilla...and they ... read more

Despite the wind, we decided since we were with in walking distance to the beach we had to go at least set foot upon it. We even managed to lay out about 45 minutes before we could no longer endure the cool wind. I don’t think I even changed color at all. After that we decided to go back to Alberts for lunch. Lunch did not disappoint us either, it really good as well. I had a super salad with tuna (yummy)! Then we even got dessert. I don’t remember what it was called but it had toffee, and chocolate and cream. Then we decided to drive into Malaga city to check it out. We saw the cathedral from the outside and inside. It was very impressive. We walked around a little more (I got a ... read more

I am sitting on the plane to Malaga! I had a bit of a rough start since my luggage was 20 kilos over the limit so I had to pay an additional 1000 NOK (just about the price of my plane ticket - ouch!). Thankfully I still had just enough to time to stop by the duty free shop, pick up my brothers favorite chocolate and board the plane. I was reading God’s Word as usual when I came across verses that everyone is familiar with but they spoke to me with more power than usual. “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” Luke 6:31 This also brought to mind the wonderful verse, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” After being on the road for four months with 8 other people in two ... read more
