Wow! Our visit to La Mejorana guest house in the white hill town of Grazalema was the most amazing and rejuvenating 4 days of our Spain trip! We enjoyed exhilarating hikes in the Andalusia limestone mountains beneath the awesome circling vultures. Andres would recommend a new hike each day and provide us with maps. We found flowers blooming and even spotted several ibex. We walked an old Roman road and heard sheep bells echoing in the distance. And the sunshine in late December was much needed. But the best thing was the inviting environment of La Mejorana itself. We spent four days and nights of blissful relaxation. Our room was spacious and comfortable and felt like a bedroom in an old Spanish home, which it is. Bird song and roosters crowing could be heard from our ... read more

Saturday started with a lie-in til about 10am, which wasn't enough after the late night before!! I was staggering into the walls slightly as I left the house. We decided to go away for the weekend to escape the start of the Carnaval madness, when hundreds of people from all over Spain descend onto the streets of Cadiz for drinking and debauchery. This being a 10 day festival, we were sure we'd see plenty more of the same! The trip started with a series of hilarious minor disasters! Danni, Steve and I met Jennifer on the train to Jerez, and it was at this point that we realised that the train was only going to the town, not the airport where we were picking up our rental car!! Cue an hour in sunny Jerez getting our ... read more

Here we are, 3 months later At last, a Wi FI internet connection and a chance to send a blog. Knowing we would have limited internet access I have been writing blog notes as we travel, as from experience, I knew I would not remember what we had done or what to include. So at the risk of boring those of you we met up with in Jan I have left the content of the blog as it is, covering events from our return. With our now perfected expert timing our return to the UK was arranged only a week before our flight, on 23rd Dec. I thought Christmas had arrived early when I got 4 seats on the plane. Although, this was not just by chance but hard earned. Having noted prior to take ... read more

This was another day trip we went on in April 2006. It was an easy hike through some very beautiful country. The clouds were hanging over the mountains and we were actually above them for a while, though I don't think we were at a really high altitude. The sun was shining, the plants were vividly green and there were goats everywhere. ... read more

Motorhome News from Europe 10. Spain November 2004 Return to British soil: Fascinating Gibraltar, Estepona, delightful Ronda, breathtaking Grazalema Natural Park, Zahara de la Sierra, Alora, Antequera and Laguna de Fuente de Pietra. Our journey this week has taken us from Tarifa, the southernmost point of mainland Europe, eastwards to Gibraltar - fast (in an hour or so) along the Costa del Sol beyond Estepona and then northwards to Ronda in the mountains. We then headed east and north through Alora with Antequera in our sights. A week of walking, stunning scenery, wildlife, and just a small pinch of culture. Well, you can only take so much culture, can’t you? We left Jimena, 30km north of Algeciras, heading for Gibraltar in the hope of seeing it in sunshine after yesterday’s rain delayed our trip. I guess ... read more
