Bled, Podhom and Zasip. Roll off the tongue like London, Paris and New York don’t they? Well if you’re walking Bled to Zasip it’s about right. We are warming up with a walk to the exit of Vintgar Gorge which is accessed on the St Katherine’s Walk just out of Zasip. And the sun is out, the sky intermittently blue and the temperature is rising. Us and Bled are warming up (at last!). It was an hour and a half wait for the bus so we walked the initial 3 or 4 km to the start of the walk. Some surprises as far as hills were concerned but delightful walking through the countryside and up and up and up to the church.

Then its down to the ’slap’ or falls which was well worth the trek. Through the beautiful, verdant, green forest on tracks that are good but much flood affected. The erosion is evident everywhere. The falls although not spectacularly high are quite majestic. They are loud, turbulent and quite menacing. Quite a bit of debris was propelled past us in a violent and quite scary manner. The ‘don’t climb the guard rails’ signs were utterly superfluous!

Back via the same route, which is fine because we knew there were icy poles available. Then down to the bus. It’s only 4 km to Bled but it took us 30 minutes as the route was so circuitous. That’s no grumble though as the bus was super punctual, very comfy and free. Great drive through the countryside. Almost the holy trinity! Talk about the holy trinity, it’s Sunday and Julie went into a church on the way so I’ll include her shots. You can pretend I’ve repented, seen the light, converted… but.

What can I say about the next set of shots. Well nothing!

Just as we finished the walk and we’re waiting for the bus the dark clouds and thunder rolled in. Very little rain but the grey skies have returned. We are back in the hotel, comfortably ensconced with a cold beer (here the mini bar fridge sort of works) but warmed up and ready for a BIG day tomorrow.
See you then.
