A quick thanks to all of our friends and family that have written the kind words of support, typo corrections and resentment...keep them coming!! After a brief two days of flying from South America, we touched down in Lisbon, Portugal where once again our spanish did little to help us in the way of getting around. we toured around locally to the outlying town of Cascais which was clearly too upscale for us and with the upcoming international sailing competition coming to town, housing was booked for weeks. a brief note to our government...GET THE DEFICIT UNDER CONTROL...THE DOLLAR IS WEAK!!! It is no fun doing the math in your head while reading menus....okay, take the euro price..add the exchange rate and that equals.....errr...I can almost afford a side of dressing...we realized our days of ... read more

Hey guys feel free to let me know if you don’t want to receive these updates, they are pretty detailed and probably boring for you all but these are kind of like our dairies while we are away. Already it is hard to remember what we have been doing so have to write it all down so we don’t forget!! We have just finished 2 days in Lisbon, in some ways it was similar to Porto (heaps of old buildings and history etc) but you can definitely tell that it is the capital and has a much bigger city feel. Cool cause there was heaps to do but also a lot dirtier and dodgier!! Heaps of beggars and we must either look like dumb gawking tourists or really dodgy because we were asked on just about ... read more

Directions: Cross boulevard, find BP gas station, follow street, street parallel to pharmacy, come to small white building with street on both sides, take left (cultural center), third street on right. Dina's Guesthouse. After a six hour long bus ride from Sevilla (trains didn't run), these were the only directions we had to find our next home. Lagos, a small beach village, luckily offered a large amount of english speaking population who were eager to help us find our way. After many wrong turns, we found our way and were introduced to a new set of friends. We found ourselves in the company of Pamela (The Swiss Girl) and two California boys (Kyle and John). On our way to dinner with these three, Pamela tells us that we must stop at a restaurant so that ... read more

Okay, so I'm pretty annoyed right now. I just wrote this entire entry and it didn't save so now I have to rewrite it. Ugh! Hopefully I can remember everything... So...I'm back in Dublin now for the 4th time. This place is starting to feel like my home away from home. But really it's nice to be able to come back to a familiar place once in a while. Not to mention back to English! But I miss the sun already. My time in Portugal was amazing. I absolutely loved it there and didn't want to leave. After my night in Lisbon I went south the Lagos for 2 nights. But I loved it there so much I ended up staying 3 nights. It's such a strange little town. It is basically a beach town ... read more

Portugal - Porto - Day 2 Hi Everyone This entry is about our 2nd day in Porto. We started off the day with a open top bus tour around Porto and managed to see heaps of the major sights, about a million chruchs and momuments, there seems to be one on every second corner there. Our bus trip ended down by the Douro river where the grapes are grown to make authentic Portugese Port, it is a beautiful setting with a lot of new restaurants and a great view of the old Port city. We went port tasting at Sandemans and Grahams and a couple of other cute little places. They have really little winding roads going back from the waterfront and they speed around the corners and just beep their horn to let cars coming ... read more

Hi Everyone I know we have been super slack with staying in touch but we have hardly had a chance to catch our breath so far!! At the moment we are in Porto (Portugal), we had our frist day here today but I should start from the beginning.... Our flight to London went well and we only arrived about half an hour later than expected. Adam and I both had about 6 hours sleep over the 24 hour flight so of course we were feeling extremely refreshed when Tommo (Adam´s friend who lives in London) picked us up from the airport. This was lucky as we only had 2 hours to get back from the airport, get showered and get to the pub in time for the All Black game against the Springboks. GO THE ALL ... read more

We arrived in Portugal after a near sleepness nite on an overnite train from Santiago-Madrid then a flight from Madrid-Faro which is the closest airport to where we were staying. It was about 32 plus degrees and everyone kept telling us the weather was gonna get better but we thought it was choice as it was!!Then the next day on the beach turned us into lobsters which was how we would look for the next 4 days.... read more

So I have finally found some sun! yay! I spent Saturday night in Dublin and meant up with the tour group I hung out with in Galway since their tour ended that night in Dublin. We went out to the Temple Bar, which is apparently THE bar to go to in Ireland. It was insanely packed but fun none the less. It was great to have a group of people I knew already to hang out with for the night. The next day I took a bus to Belfast and spent the afternoon wandering around the city. It was a pretty nice city, but the history there was what I was really interested in seeing, so I booked a day tour of Northern Ireland for the next day. First stop was the Giant´s Causeway which ... read more
