Before heading back downtown, we stopped into this well-known pastry cafe to taste some of the famous Portuguese custard tarts known as pastéis de Nata or Pastéis de Belém. Mmmm.....yummy

Max and I had unconsciously developed a routine of having a late afternoon expresso after a long morning of sight-seeing.

It was 4pm on a weekday, so there weren't very many people in the cafe.

I saw this building on Rua da Trindade on the way to the beer hall. The facade is completely filled with tiles depicting allegorical figures from science, agriculture, industry and commerce.
