Olá !!! Um Pouco de Português Finally. Yes that's the word that describes this destination that I want to visit for ooh soo long. Four lovely days in this beautiful and sunny city. I really needed to escape my town and feel a lil bot of sun. When I was still in the plane, I could see how cute and beautiful this city was. Day 1: Arrived very early in the morning, we went straight to our hostel called "Lisbon Destination Hostel" that is located in the "Rossio Train Station". Yes you read it very good, it was in the train station. After making the check-in, we took the metro to go to the "Estadio Da Luz", the football stadium of Benfica Lisbon. If you have read my previous blogs, you will know that I'm a ... read more

Portugal is only a one hour trip from Spain so winning already! As soon as I stepped off the plane and saw the modern airport I fell in love. I became absorbed in hearing the older people speak portuguese. I loved that although a different language the train system was really easy. Do: Sit by the water at Praca de Comercio and check out the 25th of April bridge a look a like of the San Francisco bridge. I really liked the relaxed energy and beautiful views in Lisbon. Do check out the neighborhoods such as Alfama and get lost in the streets. Listen to fado music one night. Go to Belem and see the Jeronimos Monastery. I did not go in but still enjoyed the outside of of it. Do go to the terrace at ... read more

V Lizbono me pelje cesta vse pogosteje.

Day 22 11th September 2013 Figueria da Foz – Ericeira (Camping Ericeira) Sadly today we said goodbye to Figueria da Foz, this place really was glories but due to Stan having a little or maybe big issue with the leisure batteries we had to go and look for a campsite to get some power for Stan. We drove about 50k and found a campsite that was right on the beach, but I suggested we keep driving as I don’t like to always take the first place in case something better is down the road. This was a regretful suggestion there was no better campsites along the way and we ended up driving about 200k along the coastal road till we found a nice campsite which we both agreed on. Today Steve was really fed up of ... read more

Lisboa (Lisbon) the capital of Portugal 21 and 22 Aug 2013 Lisboa with is almost 2 million people, occupies a hilly site on the estuary of the Tagus River. Over the centuries the city expanded along the coast to Belem, the starting point for the voyages of discovery in the 15th century. Vasco de Gama, Magellan and Christopher Columbus all left from here (will someone correct me here please?). We heard that the city underwent a great cleanup for the Expo ’98 exhibition, especially in the old docks and industrial areas along the waterfront. The area is very attractive now. From our campsite we caught the bus which took 20 minutes to get into the city centre. It was certainly a rough ride through some of the narrow cobbled stoned streets. The campsite was to the ... read more

Day in Lisbon It was just another day in Portugal, sun shining, birds chirping, no. Wait. That's not right, this is only my second day in this small but exuberant country, and I'm excited! If you read the Lonely Planet guide you could spend a week here just exploring all the different districts, I'm quite thankful I'm on a pre organized vacation with just the right amount of inclusions but optional time to do my own thing also. Our morning sightseeing included parks, cathedrals, history with a local guide, castles and hidden treasures to melt any palette. It had been suggested by Brad from Insight that I simply MUST go to this pastry shop and have a true delight. When I asked out TD he almost looked crest fallen as it turns out this place was ... read more

Last night we had a great welcome reception that led left no man hungry, in the old district of Alfama. It beauty was being a quaint restaurant slightly below grade, with the original floor pre-earthquake which was quite cool. There was an old church from the 1600th century just 2 door shown that managed to survive, of course I have a heap of photos but on my SLR and they are in raw format so can't show you until I get home. Should just start taking photos with my iPad, if only for blogging! This morning we left for our full day of sightseeing, and man was it packed and wonderful. However the most interesting part of my day was when I decided to go stroll the streets of Portugal, and listening once again to Lonely ... read more

Welcome to Portugal What can I say? I never thought 32 degrees would feel quite so refreshing, but after 6 days of cool breezes in Switzerland, I'm loving it. Lets just say I now know why Switzerland is SO green and lush; Ireland may be known as the Green Isle, but Switzerland could take the Green landlocked country hands down! Got caught in a flash rain storm in St Gallen walking to the train station so was literally drenched when I arrived. Still managed to get a Starbucks before I left. I generally don't blog much about the actual travel however today had been a series of minor hiccups that all one can do is laugh. as i said to someone while I stood dripping water outside the train station, this is my 'fake happy' face! ... read more
