We FINALLY found a museum that was open on our last day in Bergen. We only had an hour til closing time though, so the awesome girl at the front desk let us in free of charge. Then we ran around madly taking these shots and being awed by religion and stage design... We're too lazy to write a real blog about this, but let our photos tell the story!... read more

So, Bri here, because Michy is busy making herself beautiful, and Alyce is tired because Michy and I made her galavant around most of Bergen in search of cultural enrichment. But anyway, back to last night. We clothed ourselves in our sexiest dresses, made our faces look delectable (but not necessarily edible) and the put on our fluourescent and somewhat crazy tightsleggings. Then we spent a considerable amount of time taking pictures of our ridiculous selves, starting with the tights. I'm sure they'll make an appearance here, so you'll all be able to feast your eyes on the awesome that the three of us make. Anyway, once we'd had our fill of giggling and playing silly buggers, we debated the temperature outside. We decided (unanimously, even though I should damn well KNOW better by now) that ... read more

After a long, restful sleep, the intrepid explorers awoke early to a fresh 3 degrees C morning... We wandered downstairs to our free-of-charge breakfast. Turns out the Norwegians enjoy sardines and nutella-in-tubes, but we did manage to secure some wonderful coffee, toast and cereal. We strolled down to the fish market on the wharf and discovered a beautiful pewter and stirling silver jewellry store where we purchased some lovely objects. We visited Bryggen, which we discovered is slowly but surely sinking into the ocean... (but evermore, what isn't?) Most of the buildings seemed to be shut up, we couldn't figure out if we were too early for opening hours or if they were under repair (many were on a fairly angry angle!)... The Bryggen museum was shut (again, too early...turns out these Norwegians enjoy sleeping in) ... read more

Our plane was delayed twice in KL - first due to a mix-up on the terminal resulting in a later estimated departure time, secondly by a mechanical error. Although the malfunction only took about 20 minutes to fix, we missed our departure spot and had to wait for another one to open up. All in all, we left two hours later than planned. Michele slept like a baby (a baby with a slightly broken neck and alot of drool) but Alyce remained wide eyed for the endurance of the 12 hr 40 minute flight, leaving her feeling slightly deranged by the time we reached Amsterdam. As we touched down, a friendly Dutchman informed us that Amsterdam airport was once a huge lake (which had since been drained) and we were, infact, 4 feet below sea level. ... read more

This past weekend I had a long weekend in Sweden and Norway. We left Thursday night on the evening flight. I had no classes on Thursday so I went in to the chateau to use the internet and print off my boarding passes for the train. There is a new system in Luxembourg for getting a visa. If you want to stay longer than 90 days you have to go for a doctor’s visit and get a chest x-ray. I needed to go get my chest x-ray so I left the chateau right after lunch and caught the train to Luxembourg City. When I got to the city I needed cash for the x-ray so I went to the machine. The machine ended up eating my debit card so I had to take care of that. ... read more

Okay! Yellow fever inplanted in my arm! And thypoid is on the way. Two more pills to eat, last on sunday. Ah! It feels great to have had this done. Just have the cholera/ETEC left after that, a drinking vaccin but I will not take those two doses untill the 7th and the 14th of April. Only thing we miss now is the visa for Mocambique and to pack our bags, and of course to endure the last weeks here. Sweetness! Edit; Ah.... maybe I will need one more vaccination. Meningococcal encephalitis, lethal if not treated. Maybe there are awesome hospitals in Mocambique, but what if there are none nearby? Better safe then sorry! I think I will have to go back to Lillehammer on monday or maybe thursday to fix this.. ... read more

At the moment I am spending most of my time awake, and not at work, researching our destinations. Botswana, that previously was a maybe on our list has defenitely turned in to a place we will visit. Why? The Okavango Delta! Ever since I saw this place in a documentary I have wanted to visit it. And there is NO excuses for not going, now when we will be in that corner of the world. I just have to see it! What we really should be doing is set our travel plan for Lisbon though. With a mere 24 hours in the city we need to know what to do. For sure dinner and a club visit the evening we arrive, but what will we do the next day? Wanna see something spectacular. The beach I ... read more

(Just one thing before I start. If you are searching for any info about Öyer... sorry I don't write any here, but just send me a message if you need to know anything and I will do my best to help!) Resieved a mail today. A very good mail! Our 24 hours in Lisbon has been extended to 29! Instead of a take off at 6pm, we will head for the skies at 11pm. Such great news!! Gives us the luxury of litteraly a whole day in the city, and we can make most of the daylight instead of going to the airport around 4... Happy happy!! Been working today. I like that since time goes a bit faster when I'm occupied running around serving pizza. Unfortunately I had no time to eat any pizza myself ... read more

If this program is repeated, it is highly recommended by me that the coordinators get a local guide to take us to every place we need to go. This morning, we got on the bus to go to our last kindergarten school, and followed the map which actually did take us to the school. 1 hour and 15 minutes later from the bus stop, we arrived at the school, mind you. This walking has worn my feet to the bone! I was praying out loud, yelling, and hurting from walking over such difficult terrain (hilly, icy, slippery, slushy). On the map, the instructions said it would take just 12 minutes to walk there. WOW! Once we got there, this lady was telling us "Hurry, hurry! You are late! Did you get lost?!" And I was thinking, ... read more
