Day 18, 12.04.19. Friday. No wonder I've been feeling queezy from time to time, I've been naiv enough to think it was safe to drink from the main river without cooking it! I also made coffee from the water and still felt ill later in the day. Yesterday morning I drank at least 0,5L in one go because I was so thirsty and got the order from the doctor to drink more water. I got really sick in the evening, not good today either, but this is it! No more drinking from streams or rivers close to settlements like small towns or farms, the snow melting drags a lot of chemicals and bacterias from the fields and forest ground into it, who knows what kind of toxins and bacterias I've might have ingested? I'm starting to ... read more

Day 15, 09.04.19. Tuesday. Visited the doctor today, test results were normal with exeption for semi-low kolekalciferol(D-vitamin). Maybe the bacteria made uptake of the vitamin harder for the gut? Or maybe it's because I've been really physically active for a couple weeks? I've read that top athletes tend to get low D-vitamin levels, D-vitamin is needed for uptake of calsium, I might be wrong, but maybe when you're very active the D-vitamin is used up to get as much calsium as possible into the system to compensate for the micro-fractures that occur? Been walking between 10 and 12 km per day, even when I was sick. Time for a few days break and just relax and eat. When I came back I grabbed my prospecting-gear and panned once at a place I've noticed had a lot ... read more

Day 14, 08.04.19. Monday. Took a trip to my aunt and uncle on my fathers side today. They were thrilled to see me, especially my aunt who ran across the driveway waving her arms while she yelled; "it's you, it's you!". She gave me a big hug and took a long good look at me, was 13 years since I've seen them last time so it was a good decision by me to take up on my uncles request that I stopped by before I moved on with my trip to uncharted territory. They both have aged well, I was surprized by how good my aunt looked even with the aging wrinkles, and my uncle is with no doubt still able to rip people in half if he needs to(he has been working as a forester ... read more

Day 11, 05.04.19. Friday. Finally the fewer loosened the grip during the night, I'm feeling much better today. Got my appetite back as well and ate a huge pizza at the diner 5 km away. I'm still exhausted and get fatigued easily, but at least the walking trip went smoothly. The girls at the diner is also quite taken that I live outdoors and that I'm going on a world wide trip. They're really nice and eager to listen to my stories, I told them about the tainted water and that I would need to eat a lot to get my strength back. One of them also told me that she was often on hikingtrips in the surrounding area, I like her a lot, she's funny and sweetly insecure. Tried to pan a few areas today, ... read more

Day 10, 04.04.19. Thursday. Still sick, woke up with a headache, fatigued. Must be a bacteria that I contracted when drinking from a small stream not far from the river. Stupid really, the water had a yellow-ish taint to it, but it smelled ok and tasted good. I'm usually not taking any chances like this, but was really thirsty from dehydration. Good thing I only drank a couple handful, who knows how sick I would have been if I quenched my thirst totally? Anyway, visited a doctor and told him about my ordeal, took some blood samples and the CRP(infectionrate) came back less than 5, over meaning there is a good indication for an infection that needs treatment. The poor doctor also took a look at the site of the tic-bite, I hesitated for a few ... read more
