Amsterdam to Zijdewind That’s the APT River Cruise done n dusted. We moored in Amsterdam where we checked out this unique city (Venice of the North) on a canal boat tour in the afternoon, and a walk in the evening into the Red Light District window shopping after a farewell dinner on board. Fascinating to say the least. The following morning we farewelled our travelling companions and disembarked from our floating home of two weeks. A reunion with dear friends Cor and Marianne who took us to check out a working windmill, actually pumping water, on the way to their lovely home in Zijdewind where they hosted us for five days of exploring North Holland. Comme promis dans le blog précédent, nous voici en route vers Alkmaar. Nous sommes bien installés dans un petit camping pas très loin de la ville, qui nous permettra de nous rendre en autobus au marché du vendredi. Jeudi c'est la route que nous prenons pour nous rendre à Schagen où dès notre arrivée dans cette ville nous sommes déjà bloqués par les groupes folkloriques qui vont défiler aujourd'hui dans la ville... J'ai déjà bien peur que nous devions quitter la ville sans rien voir, mais heureusement un monsieur qui dirige la circulation nous indique où aller pour nous garer sans déranger grand monde... Ouf il reste de la place... c'est gratuit et en plus il y a déjà là des remorques pour chevaux, des camionettes, etc... Nous voici donc ici pour une bonne journée... Je ... read more

Just a relaxing few days.. (so these few days was really just catching up with family, and relaxing about.. ) DAY TWO:Like i mentioned in the previous blog, my mornings were a bit out of routine.. a 5:30 wake up for me and i wasn't even the earliest. This was evidence that the 20 hour flight took more of a toll on us that we realized, so we were already mentally preparing for a long day. After seeing oma the day before for mum, we planned to visit dad's father today at the retirement home in Hippolythushoef. Before leaving for that, we needed to make an appearance in my uncles smoko room. At 9:00 in the morning and 3:00 in the afternoon on a working day they have smoko, and everyone who is anyone is welcome ... read more
