Monteregro I a beautiful little country wedged in between croatia, Albania and Serbia, oh and dont forget Kosovo. I entered into Montenegro via Croatia and the road was amazing you follow a mountian overlooking the Adriatic ocean. The water was so clear and green it made the best view. I stayed in the only hostel in Montenegro in a town called Budva. The people running it were amazing and even took us on a little day trip around the coast. I then spent a day in Kotor and Hiked to the top of a hill overlooking the fiord.. This was a place you could spend a month just relaxing on the beach taking in the sun.... read more

Guess what! Yes its raining again. But this isn't going to dampen our spirits, so after breakfast we start our journey of driving round the bay. "Hope the roads are better the other side." The roads were flooded as we drove through Koto it hard to believe they started building this place around 800 BC but never got round to building drains We drove round to Perast, which is a very pretty coastal village. And has some very interesting architecture. The whole area has plenty of architecturaly interesting buildings Once there we headed for the museum for a little insght of the area but came away non the wiser and headed for lunch. A small restaurant with seating on a pier leading out into the sea. Will finish this one too... read more

Saturated Souls II The weather today looks a little more promising so we decided to make another attempted to climb Kotor's wall after yesterday's attempt was rained off. We started this climb with a rucksack full of high hopes and even higher optimism, and ended up with a rucksack full of water. Very reminiscent of Hadrians wall. It is a good climb to the top. 1020 feet roughly. Zig zaging up the side of the mountain for what seems an eternity It is a good climb to the top but the views of Kotor and the bay with the incumbent mountains holding the sea and surrounding buildings gingerly like a pair of hands carrying a unfortunate goldfish to safety. But with a big storm cloud overhead. Well that me trying to add a litle culture to ... read more

Saturated Souls After a good night sleep we wake up to what is reminiscent of the weather in old blighty. Cloudy and overcast, but we have breakfast and put our lives in the hands of the gods and drive to Kotor. We had been in Kotor for no more than an hour when we were enticed into the Citadella roof top restaurant for pizza' due to the yummy smell coming from there. The Citadella Hotel has a great roof top restaurant that is well worth a visit if only for the views. But a cool beer and pizza makes the venture all the more pleasurable. Not that a cool beer is needed, more like a hot chocolate. After our lunch we decided to head for them hills' and tackle the fortress wall. On the way to ... read more

Here we are at last. After a short stint on the plane we arrive in Croatia and drive the fifteen minutes to the border, to what use to be until a short while ago the planets newest country. This will be my fifth journal. Three of them along the Adriatic. Croatia. Slovenia and now Montenegro. I use write them for my own pleasure something to read back on in years to come. But hey I thought. I could put them on a travelblog site so others could read and hopefully get a little useful information from it. The weather here is just right and the scenery is breathtaking and is akin to the Alps. It is almost tempting to go mountain biking but I wouldn't know where to start. The mountains are a bit to steep ... read more

Leonardo Di Caprio is lost on the backpacker trail in Bangkok when he hears word of a magical Beach located off the Southern coast of Thailand. Like most backpackers without a plan would, he follows this secret advice and is justly rewarded for his search. And though he narrowly escapes death, gets chased by a shark, is exiled from the hippy commune and is driven mad, it makes for a good story. Such were our hopes when we heard word of beautiful fjord and medieval town located 3 hours bus journey away from Dubrovnik in the newly established Republic of Montenegro. The advice given by a fellow traveller, was equally as cryptic as the map given to Leo by the heroine junky, ‘Daffy’, in The Beach. We were to take an early morning bus into ... read more

We succeeded in getting out of bed rather early this morning and rewarded ourselves with the pastry we bought last night for breakfast. We didn't linger long because it was so damn cold. In a very responsible manner we got bus times in preparation for our onward journey. We think we will have to stay here tonight because the buses run early mornings. As we were leaving the station we bumped into our host Marco and okayed the extra night with him. We knew from Marco that there was a way up to the panorama next to our room but from the map of Kotor it appeared that a closer route was available. He estimated that the climb would only take twenty five minutes which cheered me immensely. We began to walk towards the route we ... read more

We managed to drag ourselves out of bed this morning only with the promise of our included breakfast. Despite knowing full well that hotel breakfast are always disappointing we still had high hopes. We got a cup of tea and an omlette that was swimming in grease. I couldn't stomach mine so early in the morning so Rob had mine as well. We sat and waited for the plate of cheese/meat to come that we had seen other people eating but it never did. We eventually figured out that it was either or but not both. Utterly disappointed we left to gather our things. We checked out, paid and had our passports returned. (they are the only place that have kept our passports the entire time we've been traveling.) we asked if we could leave our ... read more
