The hotel we were staying at had free breakfast, so we were excited to see what we would get, unfortunately it was ham rolls!

After brekkie we bused back out to Venice, we walked for miles all over the place, at one stage we were trying to get to a certain bridge, and one wrong turn took us all the way back to where we had started. It probably didn’t help that instead of a map, we were playing rock, paper, scissors to see which way we would turn.

We sat in Saint Mark’s Square for a while, reading about the basilica and how most of the adornments on the outside had been pilfered off other churches. The number of pigeons in the square was crazy, people would hold seed in their hands and would get absolutely swarmed.

By tea time we were starving, we had seen a supermarket whilst walking around the day before so tried to find it, after a fair while we ended up locating it. They had cooked chickens, for 4 Euros. We hadn’t had chicken for a while so bought one. The only problem was after we bought it, we couldn’t find anywhere to sit, the streets were packed with people, and there just aren’t seats anywhere. After walking for what seemed an eternity, we found a side alley which went down to a canal, where we could sit over the edge. I have never savaged food like that before, Brendon had tears in his eyes. I think we were a little over tired from all the walking, because when Brendon threw a grape across the canal and nailed a pigeon sitting on a ledge we both couldn’t stop laughing. It must have been pretty funny for all the people taking romantic punts down the river seeing us two cracking up and filling our faces with chicken.

By about 10pm, we were shattered from walking pretty much non stop all day. We got back to the hotel, drank a few Peroni beers and hit the hay.
