Astle clan I moved into the area of Sawley a few years ago never realising my family traced back to Wilne and Draycott so close by.
My line takes in Hiram, Henry then John Astle I think.
Just found it interesting that part of the Astle name moved to NZ?
I’ve visited the church a few times and seen the Astle graves but don’t think they’re related to my Astles
William Astle Can i just say that there were 2 William Astle's that arrived into New Zealand in 1842. One lived in Nelson his father was Charles, and the other arrived from Parkhurst and was sent to live in the Waikoto area.
Astle family Hi. My kids are descendants also. We have William Astle m Hana of ngati maniapoto tribe. A sub tribe of Tainui (one of the first Waka/ships). They were m by Rev John Morgan 1/1/1855 in Rangiohia, Tokanui. Her marae - meeting house is the Kaputuhi Marae near the Waitimo Caves in a village called Hangataki. We've been there. Tiny. And the meeting house has been moved several
Times. The key researcher of the Kapuhi is Paul Meredith. Also loads on line about Parkhurst and the Quakers lobbying the U.K. Govt to send the boys to the colonies. Sheryn Sunderland has also done a family history of William Astle's European/pakeha descendants. Seems Hana is as a descendant of Te Amohwnga. Still searching myself. Jane

William Astle/Ani Maniapoto Hi I've posted here in Jan of 2010 n regards to William Astle/Ani Maniapoto and have seen there have been others who all had the same story as mine. Sorry Ryan but would really love to connect with my whanau whom are all looking even though its been years, you never know. My email is nellzz3028@gmail.com would love a chance to connect,
William and Ani Astle I am a descendent of Rewi Maniapoto\'s sister Ani. Our family story is that William Astle came out to New Zealand from England with the boys from Parkhurst Prison. They were given the option of a pardon if they came out to New Zealand arriving in 1842 on the \' St George.\' The NZ Herald reports that William Astle was found living in a Maori village in Remuera.
He later appears in the Registrar of Marriages when he marries AniManiapoto.
They had a son Tamati who married Te Kono Te Aho, the daughter of Te Aho O Te Rangi Wharepu. Te Aho is the subject of Charles Goldie\'s \' A Good Joke.\'
Tamati and Te Kono had a son, Charles Papara Astle who married Grace Patira from Poroti near Whangarei. They lived at Matakana near Warkworth.
My grandmother Leah Astle was the eldest of 6 children and married William Tukotahi Campbell of Waingaro Springs near Ngaruawahia.
My mother Maybel Ira Campbell married Simon Henare Norman from
Te Hapua near Cape Reinga. She is the eldest of 6 children and is now 80 years old.
re- william astle hello rastle my mothers grandfathers grandfather was william astle(parkhust boy) my mother 80 years of contact me if you wish to know more
Thomas Astle I'm a descendent of William Astle who married Ani Maniapoto. Their son Thomas (Tamati) married my great great grandmother Te Kono Te Aho. Her son Charles Papara Astle lived at Matakana, Warkworth. I'm keen to connect with Nellie and Antoinette. I was in England last October and managed to get to Rugby where my ancestor John Norman came from. I wonder where our William came from? Cheers.

Wunderschön mir gefällt es sehr gut... schöne ausblicke, und wenn man auf der riviera von makarska ist , spürt man wie es vielleicht in der Paradise sein wird... Danke www.istrien.info !
South America or Bust Panama is one of the most colorful countries in South America. I love your pics. I have only been there once, but can't wait to go back!
Astle connection I was very interested to read your Astle research. I, like Nellie, am descended from Williams Astle the boy convict who came out from Parkhurst in 1840-- my great grandmother was one of his daughters, Elizabeth Mary who married Edwin Roden a horse trainer. They moved to Christchurch. I am trying to find out whether it is correct that William Astle married Rewi Maniapoto's sister Ani Maniapoto. This won't help you (unless it connects way back in England) but I would be keen to connect with Nellie.
There is a castle Amazing and beautiful photos. So there really is a Matlock castle? Rumor has it that one of the brothers were sent on his way or kicked out of the castle and sent on his way to America. All heresay and makes a good story. My maiden name is Matlock.
Thanks for allowing the public photos.
Very Funny Dude I really get a kick out of reading your blog. I wish I got to do some of the things you have done. You are defiantly best guy and i look very forward to reading your next post. Best of luck I hope you and Nic are doing awesome.
on behalf of Arizonans... I apologize for the tour guide. That whole area is an awesome place to visit. It's a shame that you didn't get a chance to hike Bright Angel Trail --- it'd take your breath away (literally on the way back up).
As for that second highway near the dam, they've been working on that for years. Traffic on the dam is horrendous and can take hours to cross. I don't think they built a new road for terrorism, I believe it was more for transport (but I could be wrong). If you've seen the dam a bunch of times, you'd rather bypass it and take the quicker way in or out of Vegas. That said I'm amazed at how much it takes to build a road in that area --- the history of the dam being built is interesting but also tragic. So many lives were lost, so in a way we should honor them by using that path, or something like that.
Again, it's a shame you didn't get to walk around the dam. I didn't realize they closed it to tourism. There's a cool elevator tour that is so worth it. Maybe the next time you guys visit, you'll be able to. Glad you got to see some of it though! And maybe on your next trip you'll be able to see more.
