Monday Rome Walked around the corner to the magnificent Pantheon. It is an ancient monument to power and strength. Built of marble columns and tiny bricks it is in a small piazza that was packed with tourists, beggars and touts. It was too big (or the piazza was too small) for me to get a decent perspective for a photo. We entered a small church near the Pantheon and came upon an American choir who were about to perform. They were from Oklahoma City and were Methodists but had come to Rome with a group of other American choirs to sing and holiday. Tomorrow they were all getting together and performing at St Peters. Nu er vi paa Anette Kristensen-tur! Vi soegte et par byer paa tog-ruten til Rom og fandt et billigt hostel i Chisui. Paa Google-Map stod der, at der var cirka 20 minutters gang fra togstationen til hostellet, saa det var da a piece of cake! Vi forlod campingpladsen mandag morgen, fik sagt paent farvel til alle vores nye venner og fik foraeret teltet vaek. Togturen tog cirka 5 timer saa det var jo ingenting sammenlignet med turen til Venedig. Vi ankom til Chiusi Scalo og spurgte omkring os hvor Museo Archelogico Nazionale laa, da vi havde set paa kortet at det laa ved siden af vores hostel. Der var mange forskellige svar, nogle mente 50 km, andre mente at vi burde helt afgjort tage en taxa, og kun faa mente at vi godt kunne gaa. Saa ... read more

Monday 25th April 2011 Siena – Chiusi. Up and head off towards Chiusi via San Quirico d’Orcia and Montepulciano. We thought it would be a quiet drive – wrong – it’s Easter Monday, Public Holiday and everyone is out for a drive and markets in most towns. Very scenic drive, even the Italians thought so, as this is the way it is here – they stop anywhere to take a photo – worst was 2 old ladies, who just stopped on the road in a 70-90km zone – there is no parking lane - who cares !!! People also just stop and get out or walk around and get in the car – who cares who’s coming – quite funny (love it)and most are Sunday drivers – i.e. below speed limit – so different to the ... read more
