Castletownbere was a destination point for another significant spiritual connection for us and my knowing of this, prior to our arrival, was helpful in our preparations. We had been guided originally to a hostel, which when we stayed there, we discovered it was not the one. Later we would find out a 2nd hostel was nearby although it had now been converted to a educational center. Becky and Terrie went to check it out. When they returned Becky confirmed that this was our location.
We had moved to a B&B which, as it turned out, was only 1 1/2 blocks away from the site. We went to the hostel and walked around to the back where we sensed the primary emmination of energy was coming from. There was no way to access from this side, so we walked around to the other side. There we found a gate that opened into the most beautiful garden, church and grounds. A path led around to the back where we at last found the source of the magnetism that had drawn us for several days.
At first I thought it was a small hill or large mound, until you saw
the black face of rock underneath. On closer inspection, under a canopy of trees, vines, and lush green groundcover, we discovered a large rock formation. It appeared to be 12 to 15 feet high, the face and sides jutting up as if vertically sheered off. Small trees and growth covered the top and hung over the edges. All was covered in vines. Here was the power place that we were searching for. Each of us was drawn to a specific location for a our point of connection. We would, in our own ways, ground, center, and align with Spirit becoming calm, quiet and relinquishing to the forces of intelligence that exist in Life. In this place we shifted our external senses to internal ones and we experienced a kind of "sight" that allowed us to see, feel, and experience life in a very different manner. We could know things beyond the scope of a mental mind, or fearful heart and much about our own natures. In this way, insights are revealed in ways that can be acknowledged and understood, though sometimes startling. Also, other expressions of life, such as guides, nature beings, angels, animals, and even plants all have consciousness
or "animism" and bear witness to wisdom different, and often greater than our own. Welcoming us they are often willing supporters of our spiritual educations and enlightenment.
This was the case for us. In regard to my own personal journey, I was presented with an experience so clear and so "in my face" that I could not deny what I saw and felt. And, it was a complete and startling revelation to me. However, because it came completely neutral, with no judgment or sense of right or wrong, this freed me to look at it without judgment of myself. This of course being the best attitude regarding all self-reflection.
