So how do you prepare to travel for a few months! Here's some tips: 1: do your research on the areas you are thinking of visiting via blogs, Pinterest, lonely planet, up to date travel books etc 2: scan your passports and email them to yourself in case they go missing 3: get you jags (ouch!), they are often cheaper via the travel bureau 4: pack feck all (you can buy stuff over there) 5: sort out proof of onward travel 6:get started early, time flies! 7: have a big family get together ( I cooked for my 17! ) 8: bring you ebook reader/music/crosswords... We are Phil and Clodagh Breen, just two fairly ordinary people going to travel round South East Asia and possibly further afield! Who knows! So for those of you not joining us on the planes, trains, boats and buses..travel with us round the world via this blog :) Phil, is a bit of nerd with a PhD in astrophysics and now works in computing etc (yawn, yawn!). Clodagh is a baker, actress, candlestick maker! She works in farming, baking and has a background in nursing if things get hairy on the trips! 3 days to go till the big move. We're nervous. Rachel has her bag packed (her whole life in 9kg), i still havent my clothes washed. Enjoying our last few nights in the cold Irish weather, sitting in, watchin telly with dog, fire BLAZING. Just got into watching a new programme Suits so kinda ragin we wont finish it. Rachel is standing here half naked doing her tan for tomorrow night. Going to an all you can eat chinese, 10 quid, so we'll see if its nice. Heading out with my ma (ma), cleve (her suga' daddy), gem (sister), Dylan (brother), Shane and Barbara, and Tom and Christina. We'll pop a bottle of champagne, its all for our going away an all that. On the way to our next farm we made a stop at Blarney, well known for Blarney Castle and the Blarney Stone, which when kissed, gives the kisser the gift of eloquence. The story goes that when Queen Elizabeth I was requesting an oath of loyalty to occupy the lands she sent Sir George Carew to have talks with Lord Blarney. When he arrived in Blarney he was entertained, sweet talked but never given a commitment to the Queen. When he reported this to Queen Elizabeth all she could do was explode with frustration with “This is all blarney...what he says he never means!”. Hence the word “blarney”.
