I woke up after a luuuuvely sleep, and was ready for my first full day in Germany. Alex took me to buy food for breakfast from the local market that is literally 20 metres from her front door. There are stalls the full length of the road, full of fresh fruit and veg, butchers, a smelly cheese stall, florists, bakers, and fast food stalls. Alex bought lots of breads, sliced meats and pate. The breakfast we had was a massive feast with everything we got at the market, plus cheese, smoked salmon and jams. I was stuffed to bursting, but hey it would be rude not to eat everything offered 😊

Then we went to Kingstone which is the town where Alex works as a teacher of 17-18 year olds. Its a lovely old town that is a wealthy area so the houses were BIG and the shops were beautiful and expensive. So lots of window shopping.

Then back in the car for a 30 min drive to Wiesbaden, where we saw 2 churches, both that had weddings going on with lots of beautifully dressed guests. We watched as one bride and groom released 6 doves ..... very pretty. Here's a German tradition that I'd not heard of, after they are married the bride and groom have to cut their shapes out of a white sheet held up in front of them, then the groom carries his bride through it !!

I've just had home made asparagus soup and bread, then panchetta ham, steamed potatoes and asparagus, all of which was lovely. Alex and Timo are the perfect hosts, I won't want to leave !!!

Timo has gone out to watch the football cup final, and Alex is going to take me to a local festival in a few mins so I'll blog about it tomorrow.

off now xxx
