It was the day before our trip and it was my last day at work. There is always an air of expectation as I count down the last minutes to leaving the UK. I wonder what I have forgotten to pack or that something will go wrong. I did the last minute shopping, said our goodbyes to family and thought so many things to do and think about. I wonder what the traffic will be like tomorrow as we drive down the M1 and the M25. Will we get a good run at the tunnel? I never sleep well . There are always too many things on my mind. Our last evening in France ended. Before we retired for the night we noticed our neighbours - the same Belgian couple who parked opposite us last night. Tonight they did not have the luxury of parking over a number of plots . They were taken to their plot by our bike riding campsite owner. They did the usual tour of the campsite with their car. They got their bikes out and did the same. It appears that they have a pattern they follow and follow it they did. We slept well that night . The night was dark. Bonsoir mon ami The drive down to the ferry was not without its problems . We kept hitting queues which seemed to be linked not with roadworks but with junctions where vehicles were leaving heading for Cambridge. We decided after three of these holdups that this was not the most auspicious of routes. Next year – well next year who knows what we will do but it will not include Peterborough as as starting off point. We had had a fairly cold night but then we are a week later travelling.
