We are on our second day of the cruise and I think I have finally figured out this computer/internet/my fumblings and jetlag! Time flew by in Barcelona and we didn’t get to see ¼ of the things on my list. But what we did do was incredible. We will be back and stay longer next time. On day one we went to the Casa Battio. I lost Kyle somewhere on the back porch ½ way through and just thought I would catch up with him at some point. Nope!! I went all the way to the rooftop and no Kyle. I hung out there taking lots of pictures thinking he would show up. Nope!! Waited forever in the gift shop. Nope! Made my way down 5 flights of stairs to the outside. Nope! Hiked back up the 5 flights of stairs and finally found him on the roof. Then we went back into the gift shop. I loved Casa Battio it was beautiful! After rounding up the man we went and got on the hop on and hop off bus to take the green line. Yesterday was the red line. We didn’t get off the bus on either day because we
had so many other plans later that evening we took a cooking class at Barcelona cooking. Kyle prepared gazpacho and I prepared Crema Catalona. We met some lovely people traveling from Australia. And had a great conversations with some people from America that now live in Barcelona. People in Barcelona walk. Barcelona is a very walkable city and just incredible. The next NO hop on hop off bus. We did take a city bus and went to Park Guell, a fabulous hospital and Famila Sagrada. Everywhere we went we felt safe and the people were extremely helpful and kind. On our last evening in Barcelona we met up with Mai and Peter and went on a Tapas tour. We went to 4 different places where we tasted, Cheese, local tapas, regional tapas, and regional desserts. And to Kyle’s happiness NO squid or octopus. Some things were hits and some misses but the only thing we had that even look familiar were the mushrooms. We also got to explore the Gothic quarter of Barcelona with our guide Katherine. We all had a great time and I loved the gothic quarter. On the way back to our apartment we went to the
beach to get sand for Kyle’s collection. In the dark we got lost and walked quite a bit further than we needed to but what the heck it made my steps for the day at 20,175 steps… or I walked 9 miles that day. My calves reminded me the next morning when I tried to get out of bed.
Our last morning in Barcelona was spent packing up and getting ready to get to the cruise terminal. We hated saying goodbye to Barcelona but we had such a good time there we will be back. So we are in St. Tropez right now our first stop on the cruise. Last night we had a meet and greet for our fellow travelers from the forum that we are on. We got to put some faces with names of those that will be traveling on different tours with us. Kyle and I hitched a ride with two other couples from Florida and went to dinner with them in the Pinnacle Restaurant. We had such a great meal and conversation we talked right through the opening show. The food was great and our waiter was from Holland. He gave us some great tips for St. Tropez. I gave Kyle full reign of what we are going to do today. We’ll see where the day takes us! Off to catch the tender to town.
