May 8th Took to the Alpes today to see the Gorges de Verdon. Quite spectacular. Flowing rapids coloured jade and sweeping bends along mountain edges. The motor cycles let loose on these roads....so brave. A place for extreme sports if you are into that but we were limited with time. Very disappointed! Lunch at a restaurant owned by the same family since the 1700s. Another great day.... read more

December flew by with the kids busy at Dunbeg school doing Xmas concerts, Xmas parties, Xmas discos. We were lucky to have Brads sister and family visit us for Xmas. It was the first time in 6 mths that the kids had been able to get excited about visitors. We had a lovely few days with them , the kids enjoying seeing their cousins . Once they departed it was all go, pack and clean for our Jan 1 departure. We left Oban on Jan 1 heading to Paris. After a 600km drive to Manchester we finally flew to Paris. Our apartment was quaint with its crooked creaky floors, smallest kitchen I have ever seen but was cosy and was so well located right in the heart of Montmartre with Pigalle and Absesses Metro both only ... read more

Well I'm finally at my resort, the one I'm going to be working at for the rest of the season. New chalet hosts are training here to which means we know what were doing apparently lol. Also been assigned my chalet, me and Agata are going to be running Chalet Nicole, a 19 guest size chalet. We get our first guests on Saturday - also the day the bloody lifts finally open!!! Anyway i'm good and so happy to be online. There is so much snow here though, today was our day off, but we couldn't actually go snowboarding because the lifts here aren't running and there is to much snow to drive to the next resort safely. Sucks!! Having an awesome busy time, setting up chalets and all the people I'm working with and for ... read more

Hi everyone!!!!! I am well and truely into my chalet host training in the French alps and loving the people, mountains and everything really. On the 27th of November (Wednesday) I travelled upto London to complete the about 24 hour journey to the French Alps to start my training with Crystal SKI, so that I can work as a chalet host for the next five months. To be honest I can't believe that we have only been her three and a half days, feels like I belong here. The resort we are staying in has no guests (as does not many of the resorts at the min). We are in La Rosiere in the northern alps and me and Agata will leave on Wednesday to travel to La Plagne where we will be asigned our own ... read more

Just back a couple of days and a new trip started to the Alps. Picked up a friend of mine (Job) at the airport of dusseldorf and we continued together to the mountains. Near Chamonix we met with Sebastian and his friend Marc, and we set of to Italy. Our plan was to conquer the grand paradis. Some beatiful camping, and then it took us to morning to get prepared. With a heavy load we made our way up. Our plan was not to camp at the hut, but going a bit further up the mountain and camp in our tents. We were lucky with the great weather, and after a though first day we were enjoying our meals and played some games before getting our rest. The morning was cold and we left in the ... read more

Mont Blanc Massif The first part of my trip home to live in Australia for a while was an adventure into the French and Swiss Alps to go moutaineeing with Brad, Brendo and Macca. After flying into Geneva we were picked up in the 'Nightfire' (Macca's mobiler ice-cream van for his six month European holiday). The next day after final organisation in Chamonix we headed up to Le Tour and then made our way up the cable car and then chairlift into the Chammillion region. The day was spectacular with clear views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding valley. We gained the Albert Premier Hut which was to be our accomodation for 3 nights and then headed out around to the Glacier du Tour for a little bit of ice-axe arrest practice and Glacier travel. ... read more

Today we left Heidiland. See picture of mountains from my balcony. Just gorgeous. We stopped in Lucerne for a little shopping for chocolate and knives and then off again for France. Yesterday was journal submission so I am including some of the students comments on the concentration camp and their homestays. There are a couple of poems from Justin. I have also included pictures of students on the boat on our boat ride in the Alps and some of the students with their home stay families. Concerning their trip to the concentration camp. Freedom When the sweat drops Like rain from the sky And when a grown man breaks Like a baby and cries, When the pain is unbearable And there is a tear in every eye When you are told to take a shower And ... read more

Tour Update July 24th Apologies if I cover some ground I have already gone over in brief detail in the last couple of blogs however this is the first chance I have had for a while to do a decent update. My last detailed blog saw us in the Pyrenees at Luz St Sauvier. We packed up the vans and headed (in various directions due to tom tom programming and dodgy navigation) for Carcassonne, a medieval walled city in central southern France. Some went back up over the Tormalet riding parts of it and the Aspin on the way . Carcassonne was fine but like many well visited tourist haunts, it had lost some of its magic to tacky tourist shops and loud American tourists. Having said that it was still a pretty awesome place with ... read more

Alp D'Huez Wow - I am sitting at the top of Alp D'Huez after riding up this morning. We just met with ·Phil Liggett and got our photo taken with him, he signed our jerseys and we presented him with one of his own! Phil loved it. All having a great time and we will be about 3 kms from the finish at Alp D'Huez yelling like hell for cadel. Heaps of Aussies here and cadel cadel cadel painted all over the road. Its wild up here in the village - thousands of people and a real party atmosphere. The dutch take over the mountain and they are everywhere - they even have their own radio station set up on turn 7. Lots of tales to tell and pics to add when I next get ... read more
