First off, a public announcement. I regret to inform you that the 2008 Sponge Bath tour is being cut short due to creative differences (April ate too much Biscotti and became beligerent). I would like to give a big shout out to Paula, Aprils mom, for helping to sort out loose ends as british airways decided that there wasnt any conceivable reason to have their offices open on weekends. I mean nobody flies on weekends but philistines and blasphemers, do they? Anyhow our day in Castellane, a pretty little village town surrounded by mountains. At some point in the night I received a bug bite and thought nothing of it. It was an interesting little place and we did some shopping in the market the next morning, got a giant melange bag of olives for supercheap, ... read more

Today we sleep in and were down to breakfast at 9:30. Everyone was a bit worse for wear because of our late night of partying. We had a nice breakfast of: baguettes, meat, cheese, cereal and hot chocolate/café’ au lait, before heading back to the old city of Rocamadour. After the short drive to the Chateau (on the top of the cliff), we were slightly disappointed to find that it was mostly closed to visitors. So we drove back around to the lower part of the cliff and parked to have another look around. There were a few stores open; however, it looked like the State Fair several weeks before opening. There was a lot of activity moving setting up and cleaning, but not a lot open for business. We enjoyed a nice walk and headed ... read more

We started out this morning with a beautiful breakfast of croissants, baguettes and yogurt. This was complimented by 8 hard made jams which the owner makes himself. There were a total of 24 flavors in the breakfast room this AM. Not that I counted, he told me. It was wonderful, we thought lots about family: how if Mom and Dad were here they would have enjoyed the novelty of the many homemade flavors or how Carol would appreciate the work it takes to make jam to begin with. Anyway, our breakfast was consumed with conversation about family back home. What a great way to start the day. Cristiana continued to impress the owners and was a brave translator for all the departing questions. We left the car at the hotel and took a stole around the ... read more

I luv eating in France! The food is great & there is heap's of it! ( i even eat frog's & snails and loved em!) A typical meal in France: Apperitive (alcoholic bev to start) then appetizer, then main, then fromage (cheese) then dessert & finish with coffee. And there is always plenty of cut up bread sticks on the table and tasty wine & you can get it good and cheap (€1 or €2 about 3 bucks). We stayed with a french family that mum met in AUS & they where so great. Pascal was a master chef & he cooked us huge feed's for lunch & dinner. Fried frog's legs, pork, ginny foal, garlic butter snails, cherry pie, rasberry slice & tirimisu (even better than yours brides). Joslin took us on a tour of ... read more
