so we set off to see Richard the Lionhearts entrails ! Which are reputedly buried at Chateau de Chalus-Chabrol. We had visited before but it had been closed, today we were lucky. Richard was killed here in 1199. The castle was very interesting - an old painting - the original fountain - the gardens are yet to be restored. The castle has been used as a farmhouse. In the chapel remain is a sculpture to commemorate Richards 800 year old event - the king lying on his death bed ! Lunch was taken at Segur le Chateau, a very picturesque medieval town - probably one of France’s Most picturesque villages. Ascension day - it is a bank holiday, the church services are catholic and all in French! We travelled to Chasseneuil du Bonnieure - this was where the French Resistance was formed - there is a large memorial and over 2000 graves. As a visiting Monsieur said - it is tres importante. We then had lunch at La Rochefoucauld - the best galette we have ever tasted! The chateau was spectacular but we didn’t visit, but the ducklings were cute. Warm and sunny day.... read more

Arrived here on site yesterday, greeted very well by Antony and Jolande who remembered us from the past few years. Even said do you want your normal pitch ? !!! Went shopping and chilled out for the rest of the day. Today, decided to go to Chalucet-Ligoure for a woodland walk. So message to Swanage Health Walkers - We have done this walk before and is quite strenuous, lots of ups and downs, rough paths and trip hazards!!!!! takes about 3 hours to do over 6 miles !!!!!
