It’s eight pm on March 26
th and we’re sitting in a restaurant called Pramil, sipping wine, chatting with our friend Michael and thankful that we are celebrating our 22
ndwedding anniversary in Paris, enjoying great friendship and food. Evenings like these are precious and this is one we won’t forget soon. Michael joined us for a time in Myanmar back in 2012 as we bounced around that beautiful nation, both on the highway and even during couple of earthquakes in Mandalay.
We find ourselves reflective at times like these, as earlier that day we had met another TravelBlogger, John
Johnny speaks We are often fascinated at the journeys that people take in life, whether it be actual traveling, or even a more personal journey. Any time we can meet a fellow traveler, we are always enthralled by their journeys and their outlooks on life. They come from many places and backgrounds and are always happy to share.
The previous evening, we had the marvelous opportunity to dine with Michael’s long-time friends, who had inspired our first round the world journey over eight years ago, Cori and Emmanuel
nenous. When Merry Jo first saw their travel blog, she was impressed with their
travels and their writings. They have lived in Paris for a while now and we had not seen them since 2009. They had traveled with their children back then, who were quite small and had marvelous adventures, including Myanmar. We could not imagine doing this with children but they were successful. We’ve watched Tatiana and Johan from afar as they have grown up. From what we can tell world travel is very good for young minds and makes them better world citizens.
In each case, these three travelers seemed to have achieved their life balances in our eyes. They were happy, embracing their lives and of course living in one of the world’s great cities! John is a young student with a bright future, Michael is pursuing another of his life’s dreams (and succeeding as always), while Cori and Emmanuel have raised two children and are preparing for life’s next chapter…when the children leave the nest. We would like to believe that we have gotten closer to our life balance as well. Traveling always makes us happy, but we also know how fortunate we are in life, with the ability to see what this wonderful world has to offer
Eiffel Tower
Never tire of this beauty while enjoying the company of fellow travelers along the way.
On one afternoon, we strolled the city and took our time as we bought some macaroons, strolled to a park near the Eiffel Tower and just sat on a park bench, taking in the view and chatting amiably as we always seen to do. Then Michael took us to some fantastic chocolate stores, where we were able to procure some these tasty treats for later.
The next day, we met John at a local café for coffee and then set off to once again wander this grand city. The four of us walked along, talking about the city. It was fun listening to Michael and John talk about their language programs and the process they went through to move to Paris and get educational visas. Of course, we all discussed our plans for the future, including travel. During our afternoon, Michael and John discovered that not only did they live in the same neighborhood, but also literally lived across the street from one another. Such a small world sometimes…….
We never tire of Paris…… the architecture and museums, the parks, the people, cafes and restaurants…. Nothing
The Chef Suggest
Amazing foods in Paris better than sitting at a sidewalk café with a coffee… people watching.
We awoke on our travel day wishing we could stay in Paris longer, but travel beckoned as we were taking the train to London……

The beauty of Paris!
Great to read your travels around Paris; one of my favourite cities. Three years ago, the last time I was in Paris, I booked an apartment for a week in Montmatre the first four days of which I was on my own until my partner arrived from Sydney. Then one of our sons arrived from Tokyo and we caught a TGV to Avignon, stayed for a couple of days and then picked up a hire car. Then another son arrived, having also flown in from Sydney and the four of us travelled to the Languedoc-Roussillon area where I'd rented an eight bedroomed house for a week to celebrate my 70th birthday. All but one of my six adult children joined us there as did four beautiful grandchildren and we had the time of our lives. It was such a fantastic week, one that it would be impossible to replicate. Those of us who can afford to travel really are so extremely lucky and we should count our blessings every day. Thanks for reminding me; look what your stories of Paris have done! Do get in touch next time you travel to Sydney. Cheers, Michelle
