We were all so whacked from the day before that we all slept in, even Kaspar (must be feeling his age), until about 8am - practically a crime punishable by death when you only have a few days in Paris. So with that in mind we thought it only fitting to check out the local execution facilities at the Concergerie (finished in 1313) in the Palais de la Cité. The Concergerie was initially home to the old prison cells that saw the pre-execution last days of such historical characters as Marie Antionette, Robespierre and André Chénier (no, we’d never heard of him either but then we’re not big on our French poetry). The Concergerie is definitely worth a visit just for interest’s sake - and its only 8 Euros and takes an hour or so to ... read more

i went to disney land with my college and it was really cool. we met loads of disney charecters and went on loads of rides. the hotel that we stayed in was ok (not the best one in the park). on the wednesday it was my birthday so we all had some cake after dinner in thte disney village. thed main disney park was the best park because there was so much to do and lots of things to see, where as in the disney studios there wasn't much to do and there were only 2 rides. the stunt show was really exciting. ... read more

So half a bottle of palinka last night doesn’t seem like such a great idea now. But we got ourselves together and to the airport by not long after 5am, and waited around for a couple of hours for our flight, only to be told that it was delayed until possibly (whatever that means) 9am. Top tip for tourists to Hungary…if you want a coffee or a bite to eat, don’t wait until you get to the airport. The airport terminal mark up is horrendous, 4 - 5 times what you’d pay at the market hall or a little side street café. On the other hand if you are after some Unicum to take home and torture your friends with (and you should do this), don’t buy it in town (5500 Forint for 1L), or at ... read more

yeah yeah went to Paris for easter weekend with Dave Hart and Aaron J!! Eurostar all the way! cruising along at like 300Km/hr or something stupid, through the British then French countryside, and arriving at lunchtime on Friday in one of the most beautiful cities in the world for a good old snoop around. we walked a lot, checked out all the stuff you're suposed to check out, ate some delicious food. really cool place. expensive, and it smells like donkey piss everywhere but I really loved it. I'll be back for sure for a better look around and to soak up the atmosphere a bit more, it seems like there's so much culture to be explored there and I'm keen to get amoungst it. till next time - ribbit, ribbit...... read more

Chestnuts in blossom... who can I run to? Aaahh. Doris Day. And Mum would appreciate why I was so impressed to realise the coincidence of our chance encounter in April, with Paris :) Hello everybody. (Again.) We are still very safely in Japan at Meg and Cams house and it is 3 am here.. don't know why writing blogs and drinking Bacardi take precedence over sleep but we did sleep an awful lot this morning - Susan didnt wake up properly until about 1.00 pm!! Anyway, so this blog takes us back to Saturday which we spent sight seeing in Gay Paris. Other names that you could use include crazy Paris, Beautiful Paris, Romantic Paris, smells like wee wee Paris.. We start this story getting off the most bizarre train experience of our lives. I awoke to warm birthday hugs and kisses with Joey...we took some pics of the sleepy birthday morning in bed... and I am hearing something stirring in the kitchen. Joey presents me with birthday gifts brought all the way over from home from Joey's family. A beautiful rose quartz, guardian angel sun catcher to hang in our room...rose quartz is my favorite crystal and a beautiful card with special drawings from the new bubba of the family, Christian. From Kathy and Tone, essential Nutri-metics products to feel yummy and gorgeous and Caterina wrote a beautiful birthday card in Italian...made me emotional, I attempted to read it out to Joey...not too bad...and along with the card a silver watch....very much needed... and a pink pearl ring and bracelets to celebrate Easter. My walls are now beautifully decorated ... read more

The six hour drive to Paris went slowly with only a services stop and a boring stop to Fontainbleu – a palace that was ridiculously big and was King Louis’ castle. We get to Paris at 4 and went straight up the Eiffel Tower, which were herded like sheep to get up the 3 elevators to the top where it was absolutely packed but a great experience nevertheless. Back to our nice hotel for dinner before a fantastic bus tour of the city with some great commentary and the lit up monuments were a highlight. We stopped for photos at 9 as the Eiffel Tower light show started and was great. The next morning was another early start to enjoy our full free day in Paris – starting at the Louvre for opening at 9am and ... read more
