Wonderful Copenhagen The pre-arranged cab guy from the night before turned up when he was supposed to and we made our way to the airport, luckily it was Saturday morning and the traffic was quiet. I managed to check my bag into storage which was a relief. I bought some Australian wine - one of my favourites together with some Cadbury’s chocolate (which you can’t get in Denmark) for my chocolate monster friend, David, who collected me from the airport. After dumping my stuff off, we caught a train down town, and started checking out the city sights. It was an absolutely perfect day, with the sun shining, so first up we took a canal cruise which took in the Black Diamond Library - which is made of black marble, the Opera House which was built ... read more

Hi All I arrived Safely in Sweden and on Friday Hanna took the day off work. We took the train into Copenhagen. WHAT a city.. it is absolutely beautiful.. We walked from the train station to the city hall and looked around.. inside it was like a square and was completely open.. Then we found an outdoor cafe and ordered a beer. We were asked small or large, and of course we said large... This was the biggest glass of beer i have ever drank. It was a full litre.. now thats a lot of beer at 11 am but we managed..and so from there, we dubed our trip the beer tasting tour of Copenhagen. We actually looked around Copenhagen a lot, went into some catherdrals and churches which Hanna just LOVES to do.. haha, we ... read more

Here I am in Copenhagen with Anna Laura and Kevin. AL and Kevin spent most of the time at the DNA Repair Conference, but I had plently of time to wander around Copenhagen. In the picture you can see the new Opera House in the background. I also went to visit the famous Tivoli Gardens, a prototype of the modern day theme parks. You can see me and Kevin as we were watching a parade of the characters of Hans Christian Andersen's stories. ... read more

Copenhagen would have never been on our list of travel sights if some of our best friends wouldn't have moved there earlier this year. So while we enjoyed visiting this city during our travels, what we LOVED more was seeing the Giff family! The city itself was quite small so it was easy to navigate for those reasons however you had to be EXTRA careful not to get runover by a bike. For those of you who don't know about a luxury tax, get ready for this, in Denmark if you would like a luxury item such as say.....a car, you better be prepared to shell out an extra 180% tax! So needless to say bikes are the economical way to drive. We passed on the adventure of using the colorful albeit ugly public bikes just ... read more

Lars & Susanne ... read more

I travelled to Copenhagen in July 2005 to umpire at the Sheep Stations Cup. But I couldn't have picked a worse day to travel - 7/7/05. Yes, that's right, the day of the tube bombings in London! I managed to finally get to Heathrow and through the nightmare security with about 15 minutes to spare. This was my second trip to Copenhagen, having been there for the 1999 Grand Final. ... read more

Hi Everyone, If you're wondering why I'm in front of the pc so much, it's not because Stockholm is boring, it's just that I've got a cold. Probably from going to too many festivals :) The pills are doing wonders though...(thanks mum!) Roskilde festival, as its name may suggest, is held in the town of Roskilde, around half an hour out of Copenhagen. It's a 4 day festival, which is probably a shade long. I think 3 days was enough for me, but that being said, I've had a stretch of 10 days where I spent 7 of them at a festival. For the benefit of all the festival-going folks back home in Melbourne, Roskilde is: - 'big day out', but multiply that by 4 days - then combine it with the camping of Falls festival, ... read more
