The most cruical moment of any transcontinental flight always occurs at the smallest of airports involved. I arrive at Jönköping international airport at 11.30 only to learn that my connecting flight to Copenhagen has been delayed due to "technical malfunction" and we're awaiting a new plane. The Skyways crew however gets busy and proceeds to rebook us on new flights out of Copenhagen were necessary. However, since my flight requires a stop over in Bangkok for some reason they cannot issue this ticket (only a connection via Munich to Shanghai) they ask me to check with the SAS service center in Copenhagen. I sense trouble. Wasting the afternoon I sit down, chit-chatting with a 50-something ex-air hostess who is en route to visit her daughter in Paris. When Skyways finally get a plane here our flight ... read more

Of all the places that i have visited on this trip, copenhagen seems the most livable. It has such  a great vibe, it's very modern, but the buildings are all really great and colored different.  I don't it's hard to explain but i really liked. There's a hippy camp called Christiana were basically they declared themselves free from Denmark and the city doens't have the heart to kick them out.  That was cool but i liked the rest of the city better...it reminds  me of America in someways..others not.  OH yeah and there's Free bikes which was a great way for me to get around. On the last I went to visit Kroneborg  castle which you Shakesphere head's will know was were Hamlet "lived"  I was really nice on the beach and Sweden was so close i could see ... read more

After much discussion amongst the exchange students in Lithuania, it came down to Priscila and I going to Scandinavia for the Valentines Day Weekend. We both wanted to go to Copenhagen, and since we were going to be flying into Southern Sweden anyway, we decided to shoot up to Stockholm for the end of the trip. After taking the ‘flybus’ from Malmo, we wondered over to the Hotel Jorgensen, one metro stop north of the main station at Norreport. Great place, about $20 with a full breakfast buffet incl. Unfortunately, all my pics save for 8 loaded onto a photo sight were lost. While in Copenhagen, we were able to take in quite a bit of the city sights, art galleries, royal palace, WWII resistance museum, first castle, and of course, the little mermaid. We saw ... read more

I had acquired a free ticket through work, to any Finnair destination in Scandinavia. We had originally chosen Oslo and although our tickets were for Oslo, we decided to change to Copenhagen at the last minute. Finnair was more than happy to accept the tickets. I went with a co-worker named Ryan. The journey started out in Indianapolis, early on February 2, 2004. I had worked the night before until 2am so I was tired. We flew American Trans Air flight 102, a 757-200 aircraft, from Indianapolis to New York-LGA and arrived about 10am. We then took the airport bus over to JFK airport where we just sat around until the Finnair flight in the late afternoon. We flew Finnair flight 006, an MD-11 aircraft to Helsinki. The flight was smooth and routine. I was in ... read more

woke up to rain. Wait, whats rain? after the shock and novelty wore off i adjusted my plans for the day accordingly.. i guess i should start with yesterday. After swhitching Hostels to one with a comfortable bed, and free breakfast for 10kr less (6.5kr=$1), i hit the town. I walked up and across town, checking out city hall, and Nørrboro. I bought a much needed compression sack and clips for my bag, then spent some hours wandering the botanical gardens, where many danes were lounging in the sun. Then i headed to Rosenborg Slot, one of the castles. The outside was pretty and i really liked the thrones and the crown jewels, but i wasnt to into the rest. There i accidentally found myself walking to the Resistance musuem with a really boring couple from ... read more
