Hi I haven't posted anything in over three years... lots have happened back home and somehow I've been feeling that there's no point in updating anyone on my travels, as they are mere holidays now, just the way people take time off work and go on holidays, not the way I used to work and travel abroad.....Anyways, I don't know why but I just feel like picking up where I left off, so will do that without too much fuss and drama. I've been running a language centre in my hometown, quite successful I might add for the last 5 years. Heute habe ich Linz nach dem Frühstück verlassen und bin nach St. Florian gefahren. Dort habe ich an einer Führung durch das Augustiner Chorherrenstift teilgenommen. Dabei waren insbesondere die Marmorhalle, die Stiftsbasilika und die Krypta sehenswert. Danach bin ich wieder über die A94 nach München zurück gefahren und hatte auf dieser Route keine Probleme mit Staus oder Grenzkontrollen.... read more

Gestern bin ich also mit dem Auto nach Linz gefahren. Dabei habe ich die unfertige A94 benutzt, weil dort keinerlei Stau war. Im Gegensatz zur A8. In Linz habe ich dank Sygic problemlos mein Hotel gefunden. Im gleichen Gebäude ist auch ein Casino und anscheinend eine Niederlassung der SAP. Was für ein Zufall. Zuerst habe ich einen Apfelstrudel mit Kaffee im Hotelrestaurant zu mir genommen. Danach bin ich auf das schöne Zimmer und habe nochmals den Reiseführer studiert. Anschließend bin ich zu Fuß Richtung Altstadt gelaufen, an Bischofshof, Mariendom und auch dem Donauufer vorbei und habe ein empfohlenes Restaurant aufgesucht. Dort habe ich einen Schweinebraten und zum Nachtisch eine österreichische Süßspeise gegessen (leider habe ich schon wieder den Namen vergessen). The weather was looking dicey for today so we set off for Gosau with raincoats and umbrellas. Our destination was Gosausee which is a small lake at the head of the valley with a smaller one further up - not unlike Langbathsee. You get there by turning off the road along Lake Halstatt and winding up and along a gorge until you arrive at Gosau in a broad, open area. It is not set into a narrow valley like many of the towns in the lake areas. I guess because it's not on a lake. The setting is very pretty with farms and houses dotted up the gently rising slopes.
