This is the story of the Nature from Hallstatt. The principal players are myself, Eric, Alia and Alana. Perhaps there are pictures of Daniel and Tara as well, but I remember not if I have any pictures of them in the nature. I decided upon two albums for Hallstatt because one, it was 2 different places: a town and the nature, and two, I took entirely too many pictures, and a decent number turned out publishable for some reason, and also because Hallstatt and the surrounding area were some of the most beautiful places/things I have yet seen. Look for explaination of why I was here, and what happened and the history of the place in the part that matters, the sequel album. Until then, enjoy majesty of Hallstatt in the fall.... read more

Please note: the main photo server is being weird right now on this website, so if you can't see the pictures, try looking later on; they're working on fixing it. Anyway, on to the stories: Austria had their equivalent of the fourth of July on Thursday, Oct. 26th. I was still in Vienna at this point. Unfortunately, I had a 2-hour violin lesson (which was really good, don't get me wrong) during the celebrations, so didn't partake in the parade watching. But apparently some of my friends went and saw the president of Austria and the chancelor and a bunch of other important people. However, that day, I had fun - some friends of mine showed up at my door and I went out with them and laughed at them while they were eating at Burger ... read more

After a 4-hour stop over in Attnang-Puccheim which, thanks to the time change, turned out to be 5 hours, the friendly train worker told me the next stop would be Hallstatt. I jumped off into the cold air and walked down to the lake. I was glad he told me the stop- I was afraid I had missed it when I saw a different lake pass. It was bizzare - the sun was just rising so the mountains and lake were all foggy and isolated and I saw a building along the lake in the distance. I thought it must be a fishing shack or something but as we finally came up on it I could read the sign - "Chinese Restaurant". The first ferry wouldn't run until late on weekends, so I had an hour ... read more

This day we took a bus to Hallstatt and Gmunden which are about an hour and a half away from Linz, pretty close to Salzburg. But the weather was amazing and we got some really good pictures and looked around. Hallstatt is a big vacation spot because it's right on the lake and so pretty but you can't tell that's it's touristy at all. They said you can't buy a house there even if you wanted to pay an arm and a leg just because everyone likes to keep their house in the family because it's such a popular spot. Then we went to this other town called Gmunden on our way back where there was another lake and they gave us a couple hours to explore and we found these boats that you can rent. ... read more
