Wendy here, we went out with Captain Brian, he had to borrow a boat from another captain as his had broken down. It was a blessing to us as we had a lot of shade with this boat, not sure he had any on his and it really was mandatory with the sun and heat here! A beautiful boat ride out to some islands, some wildlife that we saw from the boat were: dolphins! Some sort of "rays"' a turtle, frigate birds, brown booby birds. Fish the others saw under the water were: spotted eagle ray, puffer fish, neon spotted fish, coral, some type of eel, trumpet fish.
As you will be able to tell from the photos I did actually put on snorkel gear, got into the water, even put my face in the water BUT it takes a lot of coordination to make all those things come together and not drown so I gave it the old school try but after a bit gave it up. I consider it a moral victory as I wasn't really even planning on trying so can add another item to my list of things tried outside of my comfort zone! ;-/
Took
1/2 a Dramamine beforehand and really didn't get sea sick until about 4 hours in as we were just anchored and eating lunch, took another 1/2 and was pretty much fine the rest of the trip. The captain provided as many drinks as we needed and a yummy sandwich, chips, and homemade cookie lunch. He took us to 2 different snorkeling locations, the second spot was calmer, not as much current, and there was a reef under the water for everyone to watch the fish. I put a life jacket on and enjoyed bobbing around in the water, safe and sound :-)
On the way back Brian put fishing rods out and Dan and Jim both were able to catch a Bonito each, they threw them back as Brian said they weren't good for eating (usually used for bait). I think we boated out about 20 miles so it was a good trip back and we were all ready to get off the boat and out of the hot sun and wind. Our trip was a total of 6 hours approximately.
Stopped for a few groceries on the way back, then had dinner, a quick pinochle game, and a good nights sleep!
This
morning has been nice and relaxing, Jim made a good breakfast of potatoes, peppers, chorizo, and onions. We enjoyed getting out in the waves again, then I took a shower, sat on the veranda, and am now catching up on this. We may try to find the local fruit market and go out to eat later that is the layout for the day... Tomorrow we are going to Boquete and our coffee tour and zip line!
Will try to post some photos, it is only allowing me to do one at a time as the connection is slow.
Thanks to those that have posted, it's great to hear from you! hopefully, more of our group will be sharing on here too.

Wow, sounds like a lot of fun. South America is really making break through those comfort zones. :) wish I was there to see you snorkel. Zipline sounds awesome, can't wait to hear all about it!
