I went snorkeling in the open ocean!!!! AAAAAND....I ATE LOBSTER and liked it!! Woohoo! Our day started early because we needed to get to the harbor. When we got to the harbor, we were met with cold drinks and smiling happy faces with a backdrop of the blue, open ocean. We took a catamaran ride out to the coral reefs, and they handed out snorkels. I looked at Chris like, ¨I´m not doing this.¨ Then they said,¨Experienced snorkelers over here and beginners over here...¨ Needless to say, I didn´t hear that and got in the experienced line and Chris was psyched. Then, just jump...ummm...what? Ok, I can do this...and JUMPED. I had to take a moment to NOT think about what might be under me and pray. Then, I clutched onto Chris and away we went!! ... read more

Ok...so while flying here we flew over The Bahamas!! The ocean is so blue it looks like someone poured that toilet cleaner stuff in it! When we landed at the airport it was interesting...there are NO walls on anything; not the airport, the resort, ANYTHING. There are only thatched, hut-style roofs and no walls. After we fixed our room fiasco, we walked along the beach in the dark...so beautiful and dreamy. Prosource arranged a fancy dinner right on Gabi Beach. -sigh- it was so amazingly beautiful. We met some cool people and had a yummy dinner. They had cream puffs in the shapes of SWANS!!! Sooo as I type to you I am listening to rushing water and cool band (can´t understand what they are saying, but sounds neat!)...tomorrow I am supposed to go on a ... read more

ok, so i'm so sorry I haven't writen more, but life, the tropics and well, everything caught up with me. So here i go, my explanation makes as ood a recount of the story as i could otherwise. Chapter 1 the Dominican stereotipe The lights went, the computer died, the elecrical sistem showed it's flaws once again and "se fue la luz""the light went" became the most used sentense in the household. the computers just generally have issues, ether it's the internet, or the electric, or a virus or about ten thousand other things, and our computer geek when i fail lives in the capital, which means it takes forever to get here. Now, for example, me and my sis are sharing a computer, the problem is i am too nice and she wants it too ... read more

well, i've been here for over a month, my spanish is almost (not really) conversational and i'm starting to think of Menod as my host community and this as home...for this year at least.... School is going well, my first tests have been given back to me, an 84% in history and a 73% in Spanish...both of them had to be writen in Spanish so I'm rather proud of myself that i did better then most of the class. It's after school that my life starts. I'm taking tons of classes at this place, Pointe', it feels lke home, the teachers almost like family, they I think are the real friends i'l have. I have however, started to develope friends within the ranks of my pers. One girl Betti and one boy, Ricardo. The first is ... read more
