I'm in the plane, about to land Two weeks away from home I see the trees and all the sand Touch down, Disembark, Our adventure has just begun. We all survived the van ride, But that was just step one. ---------- I am climbing, carefully. I am clutching the rope. I am standing still. I am clutching nothing. I am listening to a countdown... "Dos, Tres!" I am silent, I am breathing -- and then -- I am flying. I am touching nothing. I am spiraling, I am free... And now I am wet. ------------ Here we are, alone. Children run and play and live And pull out my hair.... read more

Here is a more full version. The first half is the same but editted, and some more poetic writing at the second half. I absolutely love my mornings! Starting a routine already each day. But I gotta tell ya. Waking up to the ocean breeze sunny skies and living in paradise will never get old lol! After my morning coffee, internet and ESPN I decided to take a walk in the opposite direction this time. It is clear that some things never change but a few have. Not sure why but there seems to be a lot more topless tourists this year. Dang THAT sucks lol! A popular restuarant burned down just a stones throw away from me. I wonder what kinda of fire response they have. Apparently not quick enough! I went by my old stomping grounds of Danny's Sports Bar. Different owners(again) but a few of the same employees who instantly remembered me lol! Karaoke on Wednesday ... read more

So have you ever heard or read on dating sites or a person's media profile. Under things they like to do? Walks on the beach. Well down here its down right fun lol! One of the many things you can do or see are the types of people there. The young old skinny fat you name you"all see it. Topless ladies including many that shouldn't be lol. And that speedo guy you wish you hadn't seen! Of course you will run into the sales guy trying to sign you up for an excursion. Or to take you to his store. Sometimes its hard to be nice o these people when you really don't want to listen to their pitch. Then there are the massage ladies. Where in a span of three minutes you can go from ... read more

Arrived safely around 1:30pm from a some what bumpy flight but otherwise smooth. As I was clearing customs my bag was pulled aside and I was asked to open it. They wanted to know why I had SO many precription drugs and other bottles of pills lmao!!! Well I take at least five types of daily pills for various health reasons plus vitamins and a couple others. Of course I brought six months worth so yes lol it was a lot! Luckily I brought a copy of all my drugs from the VA which seemed to satisfy them they were intended for personal use. Clearing customs I was met by guide and friend Yves. We stopped by the local super market for a few groceries and needed items(beer). Of course not everything I wanted but enough ... read more

Hoy visitamos mejor museo en la Republica Dominicana! Fue fantastico y maravilloso! Disfrutamos las fotografias y las pinturas. Our first adventure with "unknown" taxi drivers, who took us to what is supposedly the best museum in all of the Dominican Republic. A fairly normal Dominican ride, as they go, of about five minutes. We arrived at a glass fronted, manicured, modern looking building. We found out that to our great good fortune, the museum was free because the had just installed a new exhibition the night before. Quickly we split into several groups and proceeded to go in various directions. The museum contained a variety of pictures, from black and white to full color. Many of the paintings were Picasso-esque, while others portrayed a darker quality. One, a kid with his head stuck in a wall ... read more

Today we visited the 27 waterfalls and trekked up the Dominican mountains to the waterfall ledges. We hiked through the jungle - giant palm tree leaves branched out like umbrellas that shaded us from the sun and the native birds sang from the tree canopies. Aloe vera plants and cacti bordered the stone pathways. Finally we reached our destination... The waterfalls! The first jump was the most exhilarating - 26. 25 feet! We also slid down rock slides and jumped off more ledges and bobbed along the water in our life-jackets. The water was absolutely refreshing and such a break from the 90°F weather. After the waterfall adventure we walked back down to the welcome center and ate a delicious buffet meal. At the end they gave us complimentary sugarcane to chew on, which was a ... read more

Yo brahhs. Vangeli and Ari, our hero's for the day, are making up some grub. From early morn, when he and Ari grabbed a cart beneath the gun wielding security guard at the supermercado, Vangeli has been our source of entertainment. For brekkie, we feasted on mango and pina and banana and eggs and pan and yogurt....Now (uh oh, dinner is ready), pasta and veggie/tomato sauce, garlic bread, and good home cooking done to perfection. Vangeli looked especially stylish in the kitchen with his muy guapo hair cut-courtesy of Raffie J. Stylo at the barber just down the hill.... read more
