Jump of Terror!

Today we visited the 27 waterfalls and trekked up the Dominican mountains to the waterfall ledges. We hiked through the jungle - giant palm tree leaves branched out like umbrellas that shaded us from the sun and the native birds sang from the tree canopies. Aloe vera plants and cacti bordered the stone pathways. Finally we reached our destination... The waterfalls! The first jump was the most exhilarating - 26. 25 feet! We also slid down rock slides and jumped off more ledges and bobbed along the water in our life-jackets. The water was absolutely refreshing and such a break from the 90°F weather. After the waterfall adventure we walked back down to the welcome center and ate a delicious buffet meal. At the end they gave us complimentary sugarcane to chew on, which was a neat new thing for a few of us! Once we got back in Rafael's van, we took naps and rested after our exciting waterfall adventure.
