After a 7 hour bus ride across Costa Rica we have arrived at Las Cruces! This is Las Cruces Biological Station slash Wilson Botanical Gardens, a collection of a ton of different tropical plants and with the second largest palm collection anywhere! Upon arrival we had orientation, followed by an opportunity to walk around a little and explore the station. Many amazing sights followed. I don't think I have ever seen anything quite like the forest here, plants growing on plants growing on plants! After a walkabout we had dinner (delicioso!) and a introduction to the station's history and current situation. Then we went out for a night time walk. So many cool things! We saw a number of spiders of different sizes, cockroaches (yuck), a little frog, a lizard, and a scorpion! There are some nifty things around here! I'm really enjoying ths group, we are all bio nerds and a good number of us are not afraid to be excited about it! Right now a group is out looking at the constellations and were super happy when they recognized some of them. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!...It has dawned on me recently though that a 10 day week with a 1 day weekend is going to be a somewhat intense schedule. Breakfast at 6:30 am and class until 8!

This is going to be fun!

Peace
