Senor Frogs
Sit out on the deck overlooking the street. Day 5: Pirates in the Caribbean.
We went shopping in George Town (a few miles down the road from 7 mile beach) across from the snorkeling…outdoor malls & duty free shops. There are more people today as the cruise ships are in port (although there is no port)….I saw some really cool stores, like the one that sells swords, medieval replicas, shields, plate mail…
After awhile everyone else heads back, my cousin & I can have fun on our own. So we decide to stop for a bite to eat at Senor Frog’s. Hardly anyone around so we sit on the upper deck. Across the way we can see a guy dressed as a pirate so we ask him to come over and see us. Turns out he’s the photographer for the studio across the street, we tell him we’ll go over to see in awhile.
A couple of American guys our age join us, they’re from the Coast Guard ship and they’re off duty until after the New Year. One is the ship’s doctor (or so he says). They have interesting ideas about what Canada is like. They said they heard we have bars everywhere that you
Our caribbean pirate
He has a costume photography studio right across the street from Senor Frogs. That's me with my arm around him when we saw him again a few days later. can buy & use drugs….what?! Anyway, we had some interesting conversation and I let them know we’ll be on 7 mile beach for NYE (if they can find us).
As we try to leave, the manager of Senor Frogs brings us drinks, when we finally do leave we go over to the studio for pics. The pirate & his GF are Jamaican and tell us a little about life in Negril, wonder what the coast guard guys would say about that conversation…Shame we need to head back to check on the teenagers…My friend at Senor Frogs sends an employee across the street and up to us with more drinks and he invites us back to the place for NYE…
We head back to 7 mile beach walking at first with our drinks and then hop on a cab…the driver tells us it’s free for us as he had no other passengers anyway…ok! I leave him a nice tip in CI money anyway. There’s a beach party going on at our resort so we join the others there. By 7:30 it feels many hours later. Just use to warm weather and the sun setting late. I see another sunset
on the beach and we meet a cool Brit family just moved here a few months ago. They’re staying at the next complex and a few take an unexpected swim 😊
Tonight is NYE (that is just so bizarre), for all of you in the maritimes, you’ll be ringing in an hour before us as we are on Eastern Time. We’re having supper all together as people start leaving for Canada…one is already gone. I will be the last to leave, spending the weekend at D’s before heading for home. Bye 2008, you’ve been an interesting year. Hey, I weighed in at the gym and I am gonna reach my goals 😊….I’m ready for 09, happy new year everyone!
