lunch at the Rainbow Grill
Dani, Fred, Lyndsay and Sharkie Well yesterday was certainly a very interesting day that's for sure. It started off very quiet with Chris and Ann leaving for their 2 day sail to the mainland. We will miss them and wished them well on the remaining week of their holiday. After finishing the blog I joined Fred poolside where the party was just getting started eventhough we'd just finished our morning coffee and breakfast. We chatted with the girls from Calgary...Dani and Lyndsay, the ladies from northern CA and the 3 boys from Australia. Panty Rippers, frozen mudslides and margaritas were being served. Dani and Lyndsay joined Fred and I for lunch at the Rainbow Grill, while the boys went to the tattoo parlor. We had beef nachos, lobster creole with coconut rice, and chicken fajitas.
We walked back to the hotel to change into beach atttire, grab snorkel gear and head to the split. We found the boys there and already in the water. The tattoo artist failed to show up so Jeremy will have to try again tomorrow. Even with snorkel gear the visibility at the split was pretty poor. Fish, broken metal and concrete was about all there was to see. Everybody
had met Sharkie at the pool so I brought him out at the split to join in the fun. As you can see by the photos he saw a lot of action. The Lazy Lizard was blasting reggae music so it was a great place to spend the afternoon.
We all retreated to the hotel pool and as Kenny Chesney says "it got a little crazy". We kept the bartender very busy with frozen pina coladas, panty rippers, rum and cokes and Belikins....oh my! Fred introduced himself to new guests at the hotel who had previously been enjoying a quiet day around the pool. He set up our ipod player for background music and entertained everyone with his jokes. The Aussie boys fell in step and became "Fredists". They want to take him and sharkie home...hmmm. I said Fred could as long as I received financial compensation but not sharkie...he wasn't as worldly as Fred.
About 6 PM we broke up the party and agreed to meet at the Sports Bar for the international trivia contest tonight. I told Fred the teams were limited to 8 people but he said no don't worry...nobody cares about rules down here.
We had dinner with Dani and Lyndsay and were joined by two more couples for the trivia. Romey the trivia mediator enforced the 8 people rule so the Aussie boys joined 2 Brits on the "Grand Master Ramrod" team. The Brits, Pat and Steve, on our team were brilliant at European geography and history. At the end of round 4 we were only 3 points behind the 1st place team and tied for second. The final question was what year did 4 sporting events all occur. He gave us the super bowl, soccer, tennis and hockey championship final results. We made an educated guess and bet the farm....and got the answer wrong but still managed to come in third place. Fred bought some squares for the super bowl pool so I imagine we'll be back at the Sports Bar on Sunday. I was tired so decided to head for the hotel and leave Fred at the bar. He'd been talking so much all day he was losing his voice but was still on a roll. I wasn't too sure about leaving him in a bar with the Aussie boys and hoped Steve and Pat would keep them under control.
We had a great day and lots of laughs. New words of the day are "granny panties" and "nappies"....courtesy of the Aussie boys. They had us laughing so hard Dani's stomach hurt and she almost needed a nappie. The Aussie boys leave tomorrow for San Pedro...will be a sad day for sure. We've enjoyed their company so much and all the entertainment they provided.
