So, we've all packed and we're saying good-bye to the house, the beach, the island, the country. Saying good-bye to the crystal blue water, warm plesant nights, fast-speaking natives, and driving on the left side of the road. A week has gone by and we've spent our money on jet-ski's, three times, drinks, ice cream, zip line tours, snorkling, and of course...jewlery. We've all been tan and a little burnt. But we're all going home with a little more color than we came with, some more patience, we're more relzxed, and ahundred more memories. We're ready to go back to our lives, to work, and school, friends and family, and lastly, to the cold. ... read more

So for the last two days we've done nothing but sit at the beach for two days and tan and rent wave runners and eat. Tonight me and lauren went to the store. I bought ice cream and smirnoff. yes, I bought alcohol and I sat and drank at the bar and gambled. It was the coolest experience ever. I guess it kinda ruined my 21 birthday though. haha ... read more

Today mom woke us up at like 8:30 so that we could say when everyone was in school in first period we were swimming in the ocean (There's a one hour time difference so it was 7:30 back home) The water was kinda cold...75 degrees maybe ) We came back to the room and had pancakes and watched a movie while our food digested. We jumped in the Yaris and roamed around the island. The original plan was to roam the island and jump into every beach round the island. So i wore a bathing suit and sophie's and flipflops. Well..that turned into climbing a mountain in flip flops with sticker bushes with 2 inch thorns and aloe-vera plants bigger than me. Plus it has just rained so the ground was mushy. I was not a ... read more

Today we just went and layed out at the beach. We both got mad color. I'm a little burnt on my face and shoulders, but all in all it's not bad. My dad rented jetskis for me and lauren. We went out around the small islands and far our into the ocean. At one point I went far enough out that I could see all the shorelines and the mountains...and I just floated there. It was so beautiful and unreal. I couldn't believe it. The water and the sky were crystal clear and blue. THe only way to tell the difference from the water to the sky were the clouds or waves haha An amazing mental image *click* haha just playin...im not that crazy...however I am a photographer hmm... Well anyways little did Lauren and I ... read more

Lauren said it right...we're mad sticky! I was totally sick yesterday. The plane ride was horrible. I was in terrible pain the entire time. Yesterday, I just had absolutely no energy. Which really sucked becuase our villa was about a mile away from checkin and the grocery store so I was walking all around. Let me tell you, I CRASHED haha...I slept so well last night. The hotel is super sweet though. We're about a block from the beach which is awesome and our back porches (first and second floor) are on the water. They're meant for if you have a boat. I wish we had a boat..i LOVE boats. haha THe downstairs is a kitchen dining, and living room. There's winding stairs that go to the second floor. My parents room is to the left ... read more

This is the first vacation I took a friend with me. Not many parents are willing to let their child travel out of the country with them, let alone help pay for it. I had to reissue my passport because mine was outdated. My picture is horrible, of course, but who's isn't? haha When I got it in the mail I just sat and looked at it. It made me realize that this was the passport. Over the next ten years this was the passport that was going to take me around the world. This was going to be filled with stamps from everywhere. The next ten years is going to bring so much excitement and adventure. It was a thrilling experience and gave me the chills when I thought about it. The first stamp "ANTIGUA ... read more

Hi all, So cause we're in the same place for a while we thought we should put up some more photos for you all to enjoy because tomorrow we head to Lagos de Atiklan for a couple of nights and then off to Nicaragua for around 4 or 5 days so not sure what the computer accessability will be like there! Here are a couple of pictures of what we've been up to over the past couple of days, first we went to the Chichi markets. This was a seriously long day because we decided to take the torismo shuttle bus instead of the chicken bus, costing a bit more and it was an hour late and didn't have enough seats for everyone but hey we made it after a 3hr ride! And no refund on ... read more

Hi Everyone, Just trying to think where on earth I left off! We've had some seriously interesting bus rides across central america I must admit - the way they work their buses is amazing, people just stand along the road for you're whole trip and the bus just stops and starts so it takes twice as long to get anywhere - but hey that's the fun of it and a great way to practice my spanish!! We're in Antigua for a few days and must admit the Guatamalan highlands have been spectacular and we've experienced all types of weather too! So here's some pics of our adventures so far - Our ittinery has been: 29th - Cancun (very American and lots of highrises like the gold coast not recommended!) 30th/1st/2nd - Tulum (Little coastal town, cool ... read more

I'm thrilled about the subject-matter of this entry of what I call my "Island Lover's Guide to the Caribbean", because this is one of my all-time favorites--Antigua! In fact, I have so much awesome information that I want to share with you about this Caribbean hot spot, I'm probably going to break this down into a couple of entries! Even though most of my initial visits to the islands were during my days as a lawyer/lobbyist and considered "working trips", I quickly learned that each island has its own particular style. Now that I travel mainly for the purpose of experiencing what each island has to offer, I can tell you that the only way to get a real feel for the islands and their varied landscapes, exotic flora, bustling waterfront towns, and friendly laid-back ... read more

“Antigua--a different beach for every day of the year!” We just finished up with all of the Derby activities here in Louisville, Kentucky, and what an exciting week it was! With all of the air shows, fireworks celebrations, galas, parades, brunches, lunches, dinners and tastings, I am thrilled to sit still for a few moments and provide you with more awesome information on Antigua! Speaking of special events, April and May are very exciting times in Antigua as well! The Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta was held April 19-24th! Mark your calendar, because the 2008 Regatta will be held April 18th-23rd. What an event! The Regatta has maintained a steady growth since its 1988 birth with 7 boats. It now hosts between 50 and 60 yachts every year and enjoys a wonderful variety of competitors including ... read more
