The drive to Albuquerque was not to bad until we reached the town of Albuquerque which had a lot of traffic. We took 380 to 25 to 40. We stayed at Enchanted Trails RV Park ($18/night with Passport), the coolest thing at this RV Park is the vintage trailers and cars that they have at the front of the park to rent for the night. The park is clean and has a neat collection of old radios, TVs and telephones in many of the rooms off shooting the office. There are old brochures ranging from cars, RVs and local area attractions from yester year. The first night we arrived we set up the computers to continue researching places to visit, roads and where to stay; any chance where we have decent Wi-Fi we like to plan ... read more

We took 380 all the way into Carrizozo, NM and stayed at the Valley of the Fire Recreation Area ($18/night). God provides the most beautiful landscape: on one side of the trailer there are breathtaking mountains and on the other side are amazing volcanic rock formations that stretch on for miles and miles. The only problem that arose from camping here is that the wind gusts that kept us up most of the night shaking the trailer, we even at one point parked the truck along side the trailer to create a bit of a wind break which can't really say helped. After the long windy night we awoke to another beautiful morning and thankfully most of the wind had passed, but that beast of a sun was working overtime already. Nothing else to do, but ... read more

It is really nice to not spend a day driving to our next location, we choose not to take highway 82 over to White Sands National Park due to the steep grade and roll backs. We were told this is a beautiful drive but not suited for a travel trailer. We decided to take 285 to Roswell and stay a night at Bottomless Lakes State Park, the lakes here are a beautiful blue and are formed from sink holes. This is a must see for anyone in the area even if you do not plan on taking a swim in the mineral lakes. We headed into town, Roswell, to visit the UFO Museum. The museum itself was well put together well, it was set up that you walk through in chronological order reading the events of ... read more

Today we got to go to our first National Park, Carlsbad Caverns. We left early in the morning and thankfully the weather was much nicer than the day prior. It took us about an hour to get there, we arrived to a very windy and curvy road, making us very grateful to not have the trailer in tow. We entered the base of the National Park into a mountainous area, much different than what we are use to on the east coast; the mountains here are rocky, sandy hills with a little bit of vegetation. We finally made it to the top where the parking, entrance and gift shop are located. The view from here was beyond words, so we will include a few pictures. We went ahead and purchased the National Park pass for $80 ... read more

Friday we continued west along I-10, aka the longest, most boring, hottest road known to man. We decided to aim for Fort Stockton for one night to breakup the trip to Carlsbad Caverns. It was our first taste of new landscapes and hilly terrain, we had to sweet talk the truck into going up a couple of the steep grades. Also gas was a bit troubling again, almost ran out seeing as there only seems to be five gas stations between San Antonio and Fort Stockton, all of which were close to one another. But that's what happens when we explore new areas. Along the way we enjoyed seeing the mesas, many hills and cactus starting to show up more. Have to say we really liked seeing the wind turbine farms just massive spinning fans off ... read more

Our friends recommended that we visit Schlitterbahn water park during our stay in San Antonio, so we found a great campground only 10 minutes from the water park, Hill Country RV Resort. The pricing at this resort was odd they charged us $24/night passport rate + $10 for our daughter per night, was suppose to be $5 for each child per night. Plus they said that Thursday is not passport even though on passports sight it is included, but we returned to the front desk on Wednesday night and they ended up giving us the same rate for Thursday. Other than the cost the resort itself was really nice: our site provided much needed shade, they had indoor and outdoor pools, bounce pillow, great room, Wi-Fi, cable...what more could you ask for. Our first day we ... read more

Luckily our friends from New Orleans gave us a heads up on the roads of Louisiana. The drive was a bit stressful: the roads are not good, the bridges are large and steep and the traffic is overwhelming, but we made it thru to Texas. After reaching Texas we reached another large hurdle, Houston. So we called in the advice of another friend that has traveled this direction. She recommended that we take the North beltway which was not too bad and only cost $10.00 in tolls with the travel trailer. We were so grateful that God kept us safe for these two days of travel.... read more

Our first stop was New Orleans to visit with one of the four musketeers, Brooke Biggs. We found a nice state park near their home, Fairview-Riverside State Park ($25/night) that turned out to be very nice. We ate a late dinner at Morton's featuring some great seafood. The next day the Biggs were kind enough to take us on a tour of New Orleans and let us rest and enjoy. They drove us across the 24 mile bridge to New Orleans; we went to Landry's Seafood for lunch. Then they took us to visit one of the New Orleans Dens to see parade floats, the Mississippi River, French Quarter, levy system. They then prepared a delicious dinner for us. It was a fantastic experience thanks to great hosts. ... read more

We drove 12 hours the first day, we thought that we were never going to leave Florida. Once we finally did leave Florida we were thrown into an unexpected situation, going into a tunnel in Alabama. We did a quick google search and kept reading how steep it was but thankfully the trailer and Nate pulled thru it well. By the time we arrived we were exhausted, but excited to meet up with some old friends and grateful that God was with us for this trip. See pictures below.... read more
