The weather isn't the best but we did not have our expectations high. It has been a misty type of rain so it's been manageable. It's a little chilly. Nothing a warm shower couldn't fix. We wandered around for some food. Princess Mall was recommended to us. It is in walking distance from our hotel so we started walking. Walking down Princess Street kind of reminds me of the hustle and bustle of New York but on a smaller scale. Cars whizzing by and people walking briskly to someone with tourists sprinkled in the mix. The city was alive with energy. My energy level was up and down. I'd be awake and fine for a little bit then I'd be overwhelmed with the need to fall asleep right where I was standing. We needed to press ... read more

Airports, customs and trams We arrived in Amsterdam for our last connection flight. The flight to Edinburgh was a total blur. I promptly passed out as soon as I got on the plane. I do remember this lady going on and on about how they were a family of 3 and they wanted their seats together. It was a full plane and there wasn't any room for movement. I think 2 people ended up moving around. Then there was a crying baby who would not stop. I was about to try to nurse the baby myself! Whatever, I passed out. We arrived in Edinburgh, went through customs and got our first stamp in our passport. We were able to ride the Tram that is close to our hotel. The tram was very inexpensive, clean and quick. ... read more

When we landed we thought we had enough time to hang out, drink a beer and grab something to eat. We ended up only having about a half hour. We walked up to one of the restaurants and the lady asked how many people? I said, 'Starling party of 8' and then I giggled. Timmy looked at me and said, 'oh, I get it, #starlingpartyof8.' He, he We boarded the plane and sat in our seats. We are ready for the second leg. As we pulled off Kirby said, 'Bye land, see ya in about 6 hours.' At the end of the safety speech they stated that they have coke products, beer, wine and Starbucks. They then started bringing the carts around. Side note: on our cruise back in March the boys were introduced to Mocha ... read more

We arrived at the airport and used the kiosk to check in and get our boarding passes. I thought the neatest thing was when we scanned our passport right at the kiosk. Everything is just getting so fancy these days. We moved onto dropping off our luggage. Gold star to us because all bags were under 50 pounds. Since we (as in Olivia) were able to pack Timmy's clothes in a carry-on we didn't have to pay the extra baggage fee for Jeff's clubs. We are totally winning at this check-in thing! Onto security. We arrived pretty early so I was not concerned about having to rush through security. When you walk up to the security line there is one security guard directing traffic. He makes sure you have your photo id and your boarding pass ... read more

If we don't have it we can buy it..... Three iPhones, 2 laptops, an iPad, a kindle and an iPod. I think we got the all the electronics covered! Our day has started off pretty smooth so far. We picked up mom and dad and we are headed to Jacksonville to catch the first leg of our flight. Dad is driving us over to Jacksonville and he will come pick us up when we get back. Alton, Kelsey and Megan are already in Jacksonville. They will meet us at the airport. We are flying from Jacksonville to New York, New York to Amsterdam then Amsterdam to Edinburgh. We will arrive Monday morning at 8 am. Edinburgh is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time so we will be arriving at 3 am 'our time.' I have ... read more

I cannot recall a vacation that did not involve the beach or a cruise ship. Sounds weird but all the vacations I have been #beachbound. I sure do love a beach. My mom put that bug in us at a very young age. She also encouraged us to use baby oil instead sunscreen and taught us how to use peroxide on our hair. What can I say, she was born and raised in Panama City, Florida. She raised beach bums. Love ya momma! Planning a sight seeing trip verses a beach trip has been a learning experience. Then throw 'out of the country' and top of that and I am way out of my element. I had/have absolutely no clue what I am doing! Thank goodness for the World Wide Web, all electronic devices that access ... read more

Well having an extensive wardrobe has never really been my thing. I have outfits for the right occasion but I've never been accused of an excessive wardrobe. Pretty sure the folks in my circle have all my outfits memorized. For those that do not know Jeff (my husband) and I have a 9 years old and an almost 12 year old. I have been working from home for abut 8 years now. I do not need actual clothes to drop the boys off at school or when I attend their sporting events or when I go grocery shopping. I do have a rule that I cannot drop them off in my pj's and I have to have a bra on. I've got standards you know. My wardrobe choices are more along the lines of which color ... read more

Well, not sure how this thing is going to go but I'll give it a shot. I would not classify us as world travelers. We are really campers. We camp in North Florida and South Georgia. We have also been on our fair share of cruises to the Carribean and Mexico. Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine that we would be applying for our passports and making plans to travel to Scotland, London and Paris. I am not sure how all of these plans started but I know part of the plans started because of my golfer husband and circumstances of my extended family. I am not sure the audience that I am writing to so I feel that there might be a little explanation that might be required. I started golfing when I ... read more
