Happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year, John
Hi Sheila and Paul, Great to hear from you. You both look great!! I guess your wings have been clipped a bit this year, however from your blog you have kept busy doing a lot of cool stuff. Maybe a plus for being >70 yrs old is getting the vaccine. It was also a surprise for us to have our elder son turn 50 this year as will our daughter next year. Like you, all our three kids and families live in Birmingham so we get to see them but not as much this year. A quarter of the family had to quarantine over Thanksgiving because their 14 yr old son got COVID. It was mild as it is for most young people. I don't know what is going to happen to this COVID plagued country. It is truly amazing to witness the almost total lack of social responsibly by a large proportion of its citizens and in particular the present administration. Many of us felt like a dark fog of anxiety lifted off us with the advent of the new President but he and his government have an enormous task ahead of them to restore a semblance of normalcy. Christmas will be more joyous and hopefully we will begin recovering from the year 2020. I wish you and your family Happy Christmas and a Covid recovery in the New Year. Our Beautiful Island Home
I loved reading this, thank you Paul and Sheila. We do indeed live on a wonderful Island, and reading your blog entry reminded me very much of this. It seems as though you have had a wonderful summer and travelling time, despite the circumstances. Thank you for your inspiration, I feel inspired to visit places such as Norfolk, Wales and Cornwall. Also great to hear you've been able to explore the lovely area around Winchester. I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your Aunt. Let us indeed hope that we can travel abroad sometime soon, but in the meantime your blog has given me hope that there is still much to explore in this beautiful island home of ours. Thank you again for the mention, and also for your inspirational blog. All the best to you both.

Aw, Thank You Paul and Sheila 😃
Wow, thank you so much for the lovely comment Paul and Sheila. I'm sorry I've not read this until now, this blog entry is still on my to-read-list, and I hope to get some time to read it properly at some point soon. I just wanted to say for now that I'm very touched to read this 😊 It's lovely that we're all supporting each other during this tricky time for travellers. All the very best to you both.

Local Blogs
It looks like the travel restrictions have encouraged bloggers to explore and write about things closer to home and it is wonderful as you are the experts. Even when it is a location you have not been to you have lots of friends who recommend those off the beaten track locations. We've been following Alex also. We've gotten some great ideas from both of you. We can't wait to travel again. Lots of great photography. Thanks for taking us along. MJ

Emerging from Lockdown
I'm so pleased you were able to get out and about. You were very lucky to have such beautiful weather. I've been Following Jennifer Jones (Jengog) who also just emerged with a trip to Devon and Wales, with rain the entire time, and Alex is also experiencing poor weather. I loved your pictures of the flowers and birds.

Amazing!
Thank you so much for taking me with you on your amazing journey through China. You have truly inspired me for a trip I'm hoping to take there in a few years' time. I hope you're both now resting up well after what seemed to be an epic journey. I look forward to reading about your future travels 😀

Giant Pandas!
What adorable animals, and what lovely photos of them you have taken! I enjoyed reading about your trip to Chengdu and Chongqing. I probably would not have enjoyed the throngs and the rain either... I bet you were indeed looking forward to your river cruise from there 😊

Giant Pandas
Thanks Alex - The pandas were a real treat but the rain was not - but once we upgraded on the boat we soon dried out ... ... ... with a glass of wine to help ... ... Regards Sheila

Wonderful
Wonderful! This seems like rural China at its best! I'm glad you were able to get off the beaten tourist track here, and see some traditional authentic villages. I'm sorry to read of Paul's two illness occasions, not nice when you're travelling. I hope they didn't last long. Your travel "memory wall" at home sounds wonderful, it must be full of beautiful souvenirs and memories 😊
