See the "Batman Building" in your Nashville 2 photo? I remember that from the half marathon there in 2009. (Has it been that long? Really?)

Glad that driver Steve and shotgun rider Jackie didn't snooze off like Beamer as you passed through the dull flatlands of Kansas. Did Jackie take the wheel at any time during this trip?

Great views! I would love to hike in that area. I camped a couple of hours west of there in 2003 with my two brothers.

Mesa Verde is a place Mary and I would love to see. Someday....I loved the photos, especially #3.

We went through Monument Valley in 2000 and it blew us away, too. Just amazing. Your photos brought back some good memories for me.

Beamer's Theory: "Any day that starts with bacon and eggs has a better than average chance of being a great day!"

I am sure the pictures do not do this justice! What a great trip!

Believe it or not, we swam in there.... afterwards the locals told us that they never do that.... was not pleasant! Oh Well.......

Love the elk pic! See you soon!

Thoroughly enjoyed your vivid descriptions and prolific writing. Can't wait to hear more in person. Enjoy the rest!!
29th May 2012

It's late May. I am surprised that you had three heavy snow days, even on the high terrains. Elks? Isn't that the nickname for the U. of Maine football team?

I was wondering what direction you would take after Yosemite. Too bad you didn't head to Sequoia NP or Yellowstone NP. Hope you all got a good night sleep and Beamer has recovered from his misadventures. We were in Maine yesterday planti
ng at the cemetary and visited with Mary Gowell. We filled her in on your travels so far. Safe traveling! Jan

Jackie, very interesting stories. I like Steve's line the best. ''You from Maine Jackie. You know snow.'' Both of you must have been in Las Vegas previously or I thought you would spend a night in that memorable city. No mile high snow pro
blems. Mouse and I are avid readers of your TravelPod.

Ha, ha. Yes we have been to LV and it is not a place to go with a dog. Had to make logical choices.

Years ago, when on a cross country train ride with John Madden to his home in the Bay area prior to a Super Bowl, he had me join him in a walk in downtown Salt Lake City. Snow on the ground. The Great Salt Lake is a big deal. Also went to
SLC for an NBA All-Star Game and attended a party in Park City at Stein Erickson's Lodge. The Mormons are closet drinkers I was told. You might contribute to Mitt's campaign there.

There are MANY Good Cops out there!!! Guess I am partial..................

I'll be nice Jackie. The 17-mile drive always has charged a toll at some point. I wish you had reached Pebble Beach. I thought the Parzycks likely let you know that most hotels/motels have washer/dryers. That's okay. You'll have 12 under c
hlothes you didn't have to use. Continue having the great time of your life. Rudy and Mouse from Ft. Lauderdale in a time share.

I was wondering what your destination held, sounds like fun touring the wineries. Your trip has taken you through some places I went in 1972 and brought back a lot of memories. Hope you continue to have wonderful days of fantastic scenery
. ENJOY!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Sounds like you have had an amazing time. Keep the blog coming, we're enjoying it. Beamer is having a good time, too I guess!

Sounds like you are having an amazing time!! I am so happy for you! I love all the pictures and you are a wonderul writer!! I'm not sure where the rest of your trip will take you, but if you head to Sonoma/Russian River Valley, Scott and
I might have some good recommendations for you from our last visit there.
22nd May 2012

Thanks for reading. And thanks for offering up some wineries in Sonoma. We were there last summer and it is not currently on the radar, but if that changes, we will call you for your recommendations.

Jackie, continued great travelPods. Have me now considering Paso Robles for our next California wine trip. Question: How much static did you give Steve before the cop returned and just gave him a warning?
