8am bags to coach! Only a 45min drive to the Space Centre - So we were there for doors opening at 9am. We were there for about 5 hours - which sound like a really long time, but we still didn't get everything done! We saw where all the rockets are take off from, touched moon rock, saw heaps of different presentations, real rockets from different Apollo missions... where they do work for the International Space Station... The only thing we didn't get to do because we ran out of time, was a simulation of being in a ship going off to space which we were really quite upset about! Got into St. Augustine around 4-5pm. After very little sleep, got up and ad some toast.. then got on the 9.30am bus into South Beach. Headed straight into the water... really nice - it was pretty warm! Stayed in for ages... stayed in too even when it started raining. Then all of a sudden we looked out further into sea and saw a tornado!!! It was ages away and looked tiny but it was still pretty cool!! Got out of the water with nothing to dry ourselves because our towels were soaking!!! Went in search of food... just had a slice of pizza. Headed back to the hotel and sat by the pool for a few hours. There was a few of us there so that was nice! UK Michelle and I got up early and headed to the Waffle House for our free Contiki brekkie - very yum!! We got someone to call a cab for us, then we were on our way to Universal Studios!!! Universal in Orlando consists of two parks - Universal Studios, and Islands of Adventure. We decided to do Islands first, because it had the better roller coasters!! We pretty much just ran from ride to ride. The Hulk, Spider man (where we overheard people after the ride saying, “Wow, those 2 girls behind us were screaming a bit weren't they??” haha), Popeye Rapids (we were there early, so we got to go around twice because there was no cue! Fairly non-eventful day, though at the beginning we felt like crying when we were waving goodbye to Sam, Andre and Naman, and especially Scotty Doesn't Know, who was leaving us fairly unexpectedly (he was supposed to finish the tour with us). We only stopped once, at a navy base in Alabama, before arriving in Pensacola at the beach just after lunch. A few of us went to Hooters for lunch. Definitely not the greatest service, with mistaken meals and confusion over tips (the waitress just assumed how much we were going to tip and barely gave anyone any change. Michelle's US birthday!! Hopped on the bus early as usual.. Stopped at a truck stop for a toilet break then when we hopped back on the bus we started watching Walk the Line (all about Johnny Cash). We made a stop in Jackson, Mississippi, had some Cheese pizza flats or something... really nice but waaaaay to cheesy.. Mum you would have hated it =P Had another stop just past the Mississippi/Louisiana border, then went through Kentwood, hometown of Britney Spears, whilst singing all her songs. Finally we were in NORLANS!!! We were staying at the Prytania Park Hotel, which wasn't in the greatest location, but was pretty nice all considering.
