great blogs
Hi Linese and Jerry. Reading your blog regularly and enjoying both your accounts of your trips and the amazing photos. Great experiences. Look forward to more. My son, Kevin ,wife Ivy and granddaughter Alice have been staying with us for past 3 weeks, from Taiwan. It has been wonderful having them. We went to Caloundra last week - not quite as daring as your travels! - but we thoroughly checked out most of the children's playgrounds and toddler friendly beaches. Celebrated Alice's 2nd birthday a few weeks early with a bbq at picnic point, complete with train rides! Sadly they leave on Saturday but lots of happy memories to keep. Happy Chinese New Year and very happy travelling. Jane

Sink in ladies public toilet - normal in China

Ah yes most normal, even in the tourist places you still see this all the time. Hate the cold too, the effort of getting dressed to leave the house is almost too much at times.

I miss China
not sure what those food items were, number 3 may be cooked sweet potato skins? Gotta love the girl wearing her shorts and boots, Jinan was full of that fashion look too

KUNMING, SHILIN
Well done to survive Shilin Stone Forest while bilious. When I was there Shilin was full of Sani & Yi people as guides...definitely added colour to the place. Were they there when you visited?

Interesting place
Sounds absolutely wonderful Linese. As I tell everyone, if it moves, they eat it. Indo China cuisine will be interesting. I can just imagine the excited reaction when Jerry played flute with them - a one off I would imagine. Cheryl

Lacking tourism
Sounds like your border crossing went well and you are among the roads less traveled. You've done an excellent job photographing the terraces. Love the photo of the little girl drinking her bottle. Looking forward to your next installment.

Beautiful photography
Your photographs are beautiful and so colourful. Your blog is so enjoyable to read; we feel we're almost there except for our 40 degree temps! Take care. Love Jo & Ross

Beer
Hi Cheryl, Beer is fine! I'm not a beer drinker but Jerry has certainly drunk it without any problems. It's low alcohol I think. Your trip is drawing nearer. Linese

Beautiful Sapa
A pity you couldn't get good view but Sapa is one of my favourite places to visit - we have (so far) been lucky with the weather when we have been there....make me homesick for Vietnam again. Safe travels. ros.
