Waffles for breakfast led to a drive to the Jelly Belly factory in Fairfield. We had a free tour of the factory and saw the various stages of making a Jelly bean. Apparently it takes 17-21 days to make a jelly bean. We got taken through the factory and got free samples during the tour including the newest flavour at the time, honey. After the tour we also tried some flavours from the 'sample bar'. A favourite of mine was the pink grapefruit. They were also developing flavours at the time which I am pretty sure they have made into the Beanboozled game. We got to try skunk spray, pencil shavings, toothpaste, rotten egg, canned dog food, barf, mouldy cheese, booger, baby wipes and centipede. We then had a Jelly Bean shaped pizza in the cafe and looked in the shop. We then left the ... read more

An early rise and brunch in a diner began our day. We then drove into Reno and our first stop was a huge hotel called the The Peppermill. It had a casino, numerous wedding chapels, swimming pools,a ballroom, cafe's,restaurants, shops and bars. We then went around another place called Circus Circus which also had an arcade aimed at young people. We then looked around Silver Legacy and Eldorado hotel casinos as well. Although a tacky place it was bearable for a short amount of time.We left Reno and drove to a little town called Virginia City which was old-fashioned and almost out of a western movie. You really felt like you were on a movie set. There is a lot of history there and some interesting facts to ... read more

One of the hottest days of the trip saw us trekking up to Bridle Falls. The heat was 96 Fahrenheit and the walk was steep. It was a relief to hear the sound of running water when we reached the first point. There was stunning views. We stopped for a small paddle then walked back down as it was nearing midday and the heat was rising. At the bottom we caught a shuttle to the Yosemite visitors center. We watched a small film in a well air-conditioned theater and looked around the Native Indian village. We grabbed a pizza and went for an early night.... read more

An early breakfast in the hotel was followed by a drive into Yosemite park. We started with El Capitan which is a huge rock formation that a lot of people like to rock climb on. We then drove along to Glacier Point which is a viewpoint from where you can see most of the park. We then drove on to Mariposa Grove which is the home of the giant sequoias. There is a huge tree there called the 'Fallen Monarch' which is basically one of the giant sequoias that has fallen down. We walked on a little further till we came across the Grizzly Giant which is one of the largest trees in the grove and is apparently over 1,800 years old! Another short walk and we arrived at the California tunnel tree which had a ... read more
